A private jet burns on average between 130 to 500 gallons of fuel AN HOUR. The average American burns 17 gallons of fuel A WEEK but somehow, we’re to blame about depleting resources. EAT.THE.RICH. (media.patriots.win)

if you think that's nuts... wait until you find out how much co2 a volcano releases in just the first ten minutes of a typical eruption

I highlighted the end of your comment and did a search for this and laughed at all the Snope and Fake News deflecting this fact.

How much with sources?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 10 ▼
– Raetchel 10 points 65 days ago +10 / -0

i don't have the sources handy... sorry.

but, from what i understand, one volcano in the first ten minutes of the eruption, releases more co2 than the entirety of the past 50 years of human activity.

and yes, you're 100% correct in asking for sources

and a tenth of a degree change in ocean temperatures will absorb all the CO2 humanity has ever created. Pour a warm Coke over ice and see the process in reverse. That's why our climate isn't like Mars or Venus

Yeah, the rise in temperatures reduce the solubility of CO2 in water which scientists conveniently ignore when discussing the correlation of the Earth's long term temperature trends and atmospheric CO2 (prior to the Industrial Revolution)

Fifty million years ago the planet was 30°F warmer, the CO2 levels were ten times higher, and a great diversity of life flourished on land and in the oceans. When they talk about "long term" trends they're typically only talking about fluctuations within the current ice age (and the data collected really only covers the last third of that.) Conditions now are almost the same as when the planet first started to freeze in the mid-Pliocene, suggesting that we're at a natural tipping point. The reason they attribute the current rate of change to human activity is because they're comparing the trend to relatively recent interstadials, even though there's no logical reason to assume that the expected values "should" remain within the parameters of a three-million-year epoch that may well have completely come to a natural end before the first human civilization even arose.

Yes, the thing about higher temperatures too, keeping everything else equal, is it probably resulted in much more rainfall. So consider a planet with higher CO2, higher rainfall and I believe even O2 levels were higher; you have an environment ripe for life. Abundance of plants which supported an abundance of animals. You can have both higher O2 and CO2 since so much is made up of Nitrogen.

The climate has been changing continuously for billions of years. Insanity is thinking that giving the government all your money can suddenly stop that from happening.

Not that I believe it, but this is what the government(I know right?) says. Just at face value "first 10 minutes vs past 50 years" is complete BS

– Foreign_Aid_is_Theft 2 points 65 days ago +2 / -0

It's an annual average and they should probably use a dual axis except they want to show the difference between Human and Volcanic emissions.

That and the simple fact that CO2 is a statistical anomaly when it comes to how much of the atmosphere it composes. That number is 0.04%. The whole CO2 thing is a bunch of hog wash.

Ok comrade. Maybe we should make those pricks fly commercial instead.

Came here for this. Why should we eat the rich? Who cares how much plant-life-giving co2 they release?

Now if it’s a rich person flying in a private jet who says I need to eat the bugs and give up my car, I’ll eat them. But not because they are rich….

Nothing is being depleted though. Oil is self-renewing, it doesn't come from dead dinosaurs like the "elite" liars say.

Language matters. I tell this to people every day.

“Fossil” fuel was an ingenious term designed to make everyone picture scarcity every time they refer to it.

Nevermind the abiotic production theory, even in the “fossil fuel” theory, they don’t even claim to be talking about dinosaurs, but mainly algae and other vegetation.

So why not call it “algae fuel” or “plant-based fuel?”

Because “Fossil” implies that it is rare to begin with and once “used up” can never be replaced.

Brilliant move - language matters.

I was talking to a guy who works on fishing boats. These are 60ft 5-10 million dollar yachts. The gulf is packed with these boats all over the place. At about 35mph they burn around 150 gallons/hour which is how fast you have to go to catch a swordfish. The guy was saying to own a boat like that you have to be OK lighting money on fire or it's not for you.

Sounds like boats in general though. They're a hole in the water that you throw money into. Not saying they're not fun or don't have a purpose, but I have enough expensive hobbies

My buddy had a 30 foot boat and burned 2 gallons per mile at 20 kts. Then there is the QE2, that burned a gallon of diesel every FOOT at cruising speed.

Every second the Sun converts 4 million tons of matter into pure energy. Most of that just radiates away unused by anyone. The Universe wastes energy at a level men can only dream about.

The problem I have with "eat the rich" is that many lefties define "rich" as "anyone who has more money than I do". And while I agree that many of the uber-wealthy people are wretched pieces of vile garbage, it's not right to lump all financially successful people together. Just look at President Trump.

Global warming / climate change is a nothing but a scam.

However there is a fuck ton more cars in the world than private jets. Your headline makes it sound like the jets are contributing more to the hoax than cars would be. Maybe add up total fuel burned in a year by cars vs. private jets? But no that wouldn't suit your agenda, would it?
