The Russian Orthodox Church is a far older expression of Christianity than the religion created by Roman Catholics that led to a formal schism 1400 after Christs death and resurrection.
Orthodox teach that Christ didn't come to create a new religion. He came to end the need for religions by making it possible for everyone to have a uniquely personal relationship with Him without the need for priestly intermediaries.
While superficially similar, Orthodox Christianity is PROFOUNDLY different than the religion created by the Roman Catholic Church. The similarities are because the Roman Church was part of the Orthodox Catholic Church for its first 1,400 years.
Orthodox Christians still jokingly refer to Roman Catholics were the first Protestants.
Additionally, Mormans are more like Muslims. Both acknowledge Christ but neither are Christian. That is not meant to disparage either Muslims or Norman's btw.

Eastern Orthodox have way more in common with Roman Catholics than they do different. All their sacraments are recognized as valid for a reason. The only differences are the supremacy of the Pope over other Bishops, the Filioque, and the Liturgical Language.
