And COVID lockdowns. It really felt like the wrong time to be having a kid. But it gave me so much meaning in my life and a reason to not give up on society. It's anecdotal sure but I saw an interview once with a hospice nurse. One of the questions was what have you noticed about whether people seem accepting or terrified of their impending doom. I think the interviewer framed it in a are the religious more accepting of death than non-believers.
But her response was different. Basically people with children were generally more ok with their death whereas the childless were less so.

As a nurse, I can confirm this. Most of the ones who were scared and begging not to die were alone. The ones who accepted death were those who had families and were not alone. That being said, the opposite is also true. Some with families were scared and begging not to die and some without families accepted there death.
