Just like Obama tried to do when they were so sure Hillary would win. They tried to use net neutrality to control in the same way. Now it’s the same with but with this bs.

I think it's hilarious that they flooded reddit and Twitter with propaganda about Net Neutrality like the Internet would die. All of their talking points didn't materialize after all these years.

There has been strong competition to broadband Internet due to investment in fiber optics and 5G wireless. The cap nonsense disappeared. The only people who get throttled are the abusers that hobby in data archival and mass torrenting. No innovation has been stifled.

Now, if Net Nuetrality had passed, we probably would have seen far more restrictions and government control. Which their censorship and propaganda have already been bad.

I remember talking about this during the days when TD was on Reddit. Man, I would trigger so many lefties when I said NN was a scam to let the gov control your internet, and thus, control the bandwidth you would be allowed to use.

I was met with downvotes and them screaming how NN would save the internet from companies like Comcast.

But when you read the damn thing, you would learn that it would give Comcast MORE control as they would literally be the only provider in town by using NN as a way to ensure only their service was provided, and they would be guaranteed government grants until the foreseeable future.

As soon as NN died, competition rose and with competition, came BETTER service.

Speaking of my area in particular, as soon as NN was dead, Time Warner no longer was the big dog in town. Now we have multiple ISPs and they all offer cheap and reliable service. As soon as Google showed up with fiber, ATT stepped up and offered a cheaper plan at 1gig up/down w/ HBO max thrown in.

If NN was still a thing, I'd be stuck with Time Warner CABLE at 300meg up/down, paying the same bill that I'm paying right now with ATT.

100% would have been restricted. NNwas to make internet a “utility”. Then they made legal, a “center” appointed by the whitehouse. In the whitehouse. That would control who was allowed to have these utility licenses based off the ISP blocking what they were told to block and how. NN would have been the death of the rest of them internet. Fucking Obama gave whatever left to Europe anyway. The fuck.

I don’t want platforms with backdoor access either. I just meant that if the company has access to your data they should be required to audit the access to their data to secure it.

Credit card leaks and other such events are horrific and occur way too often because companies don’t audit access, anyway. And we can’t force foreign companies to restrict access.

Depends on the rarity of the resource they're selling or the how specialized their trade is. A trade worker could travel from New York to a rural village in Montana to do work especiallyif theres no one with that particular skill in Montana.

This is meant to prevent corporations like Walmart from expanding into other states and driving out local family owned stores then forcing customers to cover their face and employees to take a clot shot knowing they have no other place to go.

Patriot Act ON STEROIDS.

ALSO WHOLLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL. First Amendment rights mean government cannot interfere with freedom of speech or of the press. The danger in this openly tyrannical piece of legislation is that the government is giving itself permission to MONITOR AND CENSOR not just a limited type of communication under specific circumstances, but ANY AND ALL communication under ANY AND ALL circumstances...because, of course, it would need to monitor communication before it could censor it AND PUNISH IT.

In a nutshell, the government is giving itself permission to SPY ON AND PUNISH any Americans whom it desires for political purposes, in order to SILENCE AND OPPRESS them.

THOSE WHO GOVERN HAVE SET THEMSELVES UP AS RULERS. A person who governs is told what to do by the person having employed him---he is a steward of power. A ruler tells the people what to do. The American system of government was designed to prevent rulership!

Yes, but now it is giving itself legal permission to spy, censor, and punish, leaving you without legal recourse or protection of any kind whatsoever; no one need fear being identified as a covert glowie since everything can be done to us brazenly and, importantly, with impunity...

Totalitarianism.

I told a government Official we have encroaching totalitarianism years ago and he freaked out.

They use 1984 like a training manual.

The difference between "certain persons" and "all persons" is the same difference between "law" and "code of conduct". Through selective enforcement the arbiters are given full power to choose who had intent to break the law and who wasn't a "risk". This is how you write laws that certain people can break without being punished.

Banning or censoring is Un-American and takes away my right to self determine whats good for me and what isn't. Otherwise, were going to live in a nanny country with cucks telling us what and how we should think, fuck that.

Of course they would. Instead of just banning Tik Tok they have to draft laws to encompass everything they deem a threat to themselves. Fucking politicians

The worst part of this is they are flat out calling it the restrict act, when normally they label bills to opposite of what they are designed to do to fool the liberal idiots. Two examples are the patriot act, which is the opposite of patriotic and the economic recovery act which also does the opposite.

Banning it on government hardware and banning private citizens from accessing it are two completely different animals.

People should know better than to use that crap app but we should not have our gov deciding we can’t use it for us.

So they'll basically use Tik Tok as an excuse to block everything that's not controlled by the uniparty establishment and cry on the news about 'the children' because the GOP won't support it. It's all so tiresome...
