I was actually just talking about this with a friend a few days ago. I grew up posting on forums and message boards. Back then, there was no such thing as "upvotes/downvotes" or "likes/dislikes". You would make a post about a topic, and if people were interested in talking about that topic then they would reply. Maybe you'd get called a fucking retard if you said something unpopular, or your post would get ignored and disappear off the first page after a few hours/days, but it had the same value and visibility as any other post.
Then along came the likes of Facebook and Reddit, where suddenly you could impact a post's visibility by simply clicking a little down arrow or thumbs down, and if just a few people did that then the post would be automatically hidden and the all-powerful algorithm would assign it a lesser value. These systems, if they weren't deliberately built from the ground up for manipulating public perceptions, certainly facilitated the manipulation of public discourse like never before.
The left couldn't have asked for more. These days, so much of what millennials and zoomers perceive of the world around them is artificially constructed with these manipulative systems.

I participated in several between say 2000 and 2010. Oddly enough I was also active on Livejournal which did have some weird faggots on but overall these forms of interaction were superior in every way. There was no algorithmic manipulation. Arguments would be settled or they would die in a far more organic fashion.
By their very nature these communities were far more distributed and obviously not under any kind of centralised control. In most cases the moderators were wankers that no one liked but you had far more leeway than you get on reddit or any of the other platforms today. If you got banned you also had multiple other options about where to go to discuss a given topic.

I used to get on the politics page, and would wonder why a story critical of trump would have 50k likes, but only 173 comments. I'd read those comments, and would often find comments that were identical to other comments. It's either bots, or a loser with 500 socks copy pasting.
When I raised a question about that, my account was suspended, and I couldn't even type a message to the moderator. That's when I left, but for a year I'd go back and just skim through it. I'd get resuspended or ip banned quicker and quicker each time. I remember not understanding some of the memes, and liking some of the others, but seeing posts about the media handling of Trayvon was my wake up moment of just how sinister they are. There were also many posts/stories that seemed conspiratorial that turned out to be true days or weeks later and I knew this was a one of a kind place and the time for trusting legacy media to stay informed were long gone.
Then they get into positions of power, like being a teacher at a public school. And so despite not having their own kids, they now have access to a revolving door of students to indoctrinate every year, making the damage they do is far worse and more impactful and widespread than themselves just proclaiming “I don’t want kids and you shouldn’t either” on the internet.

I was actually just talking about this with a friend a few days ago. I grew up posting on forums and message boards. Back then, there was no such thing as "upvotes/downvotes" or "likes/dislikes". You would make a post about a topic, and if people were interested in talking about that topic then they would reply. Maybe you'd get called a fucking retard if you said something unpopular, or your post would get ignored and disappear off the first page after a few hours/days, but it had the same value and visibility as any other post.
Then along came the likes of Facebook and Reddit, where suddenly you could impact a post's visibility by simply clicking a little down arrow or thumbs down, and if just a few people did that then the post would be automatically hidden and the all-powerful algorithm would assign it a lesser value. These systems, if they weren't deliberately built from the ground up for manipulating public perceptions, certainly facilitated the manipulation of public discourse like never before.
The left couldn't have asked for more. These days, so much of what millennials and zoomers perceive of the world around them is artificially constructed with these manipulative systems.

I participated in several between say 2000 and 2010. Oddly enough I was also active on Livejournal which did have some weird faggots on but overall these forms of interaction were superior in every way. There was no algorithmic manipulation. Arguments would be settled or they would die in a far more organic fashion.
By their very nature these communities were far more distributed and obviously not under any kind of centralised control. In most cases the moderators were wankers that no one liked but you had far more leeway than you get on reddit or any of the other platforms today. If you got banned you also had multiple other options about where to go to discuss a given topic.

Back in probably 2017, before I was redpilled, I was on Reddit like I am on this site. There were subs for every topic. I used to get on the politics page, and would wonder why a story critical of trump would have 50k likes, but only 173 comments. I'd read those comments, and would often find comments that were identical to other comments. It's either bots, or a loser with 500 socks copy pasting.
When I raised a question about that, my account was suspended, and I couldn't even type a message to the moderator. That's when I left, but for a year I'd go back and just skim through it. I'd get resuspended or ip banned quicker and quicker each time. I remember getting severely depressed because I was thinking there is nobody else like me or my small rural communities in this country anymore.
Until I found the Donald. We are and always have been the bigger force. But with millions of aliens pouring in, that's going to change if we don't do anything but yell at someone else to do it. I remember not understanding some of the memes, and liking some of the others, but seeing posts about the media handling of Trayvon was my wake up moment of just how sinister they are. There were also many posts/stories that seemed conspiratorial that turned out to be true days or weeks later and I knew this was a one of a kind place and the time for trusting legacy media to stay informed were long gone.

The problem with atheism is the lack of any basis of objective morals. You have morals, but you have no backing for those morals other than opinions.
