Hang in there fren. It's one of the worst things a man can go through in life, but it is worth going through.
I've been going through it myself for some time, and most of my days are good days now. I'm at the point now when I think I hear her footsteps on the floor it's not sad, it's a gift.
We need people like you to help others a year or two from now who are going through the exact same thing, that's why we are here.
Been there. I thought the same thing when I lost mine almost a year ago. Trust that your best friend is still there with you. Like Ruprecht said, the footsteps you hear will help. I remember one night I swear I felt my dog jump up in the bed with me. The connections that we have with them are amazing. Praying for you!
If my dog, who was terminally ill for a few months before she passed taught me anything, is that life is absolutely incredible and valuable, and it is worth fighting and living for, despite whatever harshness or illness may befall us.
She was an absolute trooper, and lived with great joy and and happiness until the last day where her body just couldn't go on anymore. To be surrounded by loved ones is ultimately a great pleasure and reward in of itself.
God bless and God speed my man.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my best friend in August of last year and I still miss him. I was not ready for a new dog and I was not looking for one, but in November I ended up with two German/Aussie sisters from the same litter from a coworker who had a surprise litter. They are 7 months old, and boy are they smart.
I still miss Dutch, but God provided me two new companions.
One of the most brutal things anyone can go through which can often be more difficult than an extended family member (because they are primary family).
The transition to working from home made the bond even stronger.
Sorry for your loss. I've had a particular dead pet on my mind tonight too, running through all the should've would've could'ves all over again. Just don't forget the good times you had together.
Condolences friend. I lost my pup a year ago and it was the hardest thing for me to go through, but each day gets easier and you will start to remember all the great times you had together. I miss my little fluffy girl more than anything, but I know we will be reunited one day. Keep your head up, you have God on your side and he will get you through this.
I'm sad for you. I'm sure you gave that little dog the best life possible. It's never long enough. I try to think about what would happen if they all out lived us. Their lives are short but we can love more of them because of that. ✌
Condolences, she is at rest now.
Chasing cats and birds forever.
Sorry for your loss, my condolences to losing a great companion. Here's to hoping we may one day be reunited with our lost companions.
I love this sentiment
I considered joining her the same night she left.

You never get over it but you do get used to it eventually. Its a privilege to have them.

You gave your pup a great life, sometimes knowing that is what helps get you through the pain of loss.
Remember the good times with her.
