From Target's order pickup policy: "if it isn’t picked up within three days, we’ll cancel the order and issue a refund to your original form of payment"
Those of us who have credit cards or bank accounts with a bit of extra room on them should be making lots of pickup orders that we never pick up. Costs target labor, and gets things off their shelves for a few days so no one else can buy it. If the goal is to take them down, this can work.
A great idea. They can't force you to buy it.
If they refuse to refund, call Visa / Mastercard and create a charge back. It will cost Target even more money and possibly affect their relationship with the credit card company.
Why not just do mass chargebacks from the beginning? Drain their fucking profits dry for their insolence.
The merchant is allowed to investigate and provide an explanation to Visa/Mastercard on charge backs. If the only excuse is "I didnt like the product" the credit card companies might find in favor of the merchant (especially if they see a pattern of lots of them). They'll ask you "why didn't you just go through support and ask the merchant for a refund instead of requesting a charge back"? Charge backs are usually reserved for cases where the merchant is a scammer or misrepresenting their products or charging things without the customer's knowledge. Charge backs hurt merchants big time. Not only do they lose the money from the original transaction but the credit card companies hit them with a fee for each charge back. And, they have to spend manhours investing the cause and provide an explanation to Visa/Mastercard. Too many charge backs, and they'll drop your merchant account and stop letting you use their network.
This won't do anything other than put your name on a list. I would say burn the stores down, but that would be illegal.
