The reason those plastic products existed in the first place is because during refinery dozens of different petroleum products is created. And everything that isn't used is simply burned in a open pit fire with no filter.
By actually making a product out of that plastic and use it, before disposing the trash properly, send it to a garbage incinerator where it's properly burned with filter and the heat is used to generate electricity and district heating. You've done the best you could possibly do for "the environment".
All these paper products, and biomass bullshit requires a lot of forests to be chopped down and they often goes for the oldest trees. Then they send out illegals, in best case scenario to plant new trees. These illegals have no sense for how a forest is supposed to look, so they simply plant all the new trees in straight lines which means once the forest recovers after a few decades, it's gonna look super weird.

Here's an interesting idea for an analysis - how much CO2 would have been metabolized into wood and oxygen by 16 million trees, vs. how much is offset by wind energy vs. natural gas?
Mine is the local Austin news reporting that the Texas grid is severely strained because there's not enough wind to keep the turbines spinning.
The real reason the grid is strained is because of all the activists, diversity hires and bureaucrats that stand between the engineers who can implement a real solution (hint: not more turbines) and the grid. It's disturbing that they all are made as that same specific crappy design. 1000ft high so you can see them and hear them from anywhere. The only place it would make sense to harness wind would be in between the roadways on a highway out in a open field, there the turbines would always be exposed to wind from traffic, and they could act as a barrier preventing drivers from crossing to the other side.
Never forget that they are non recyclable which means they are essentially buried to hide the crimes -- look there, not here.

Unironically, if you want the most "eco-friendly" straw, you'd get a metal reusable one. Make it out of Stainless steel.
The problem? Stainless Steel is expensive, and it would be hard to produce at scale economically, and the load of dishes needing to be washed at scale, would be hard for even the most profitable business to maintain, hence why you have disposable straws.
