I'm honestly surprised the criminals haven't discovered these people are vulnerable while charging. They aren't the type to carry weapons and they can't just drive away
One witness said they cut it while charging someone’s care? Someone is cutting a 6/3 240v level 2 car charger with a current going through it? Better insulate the shit out of those loppers friend!
That's generally it. Poor people aren't the ones buying these cars.
BTW, I see the benefit in instant torque from an electric motor, as opposed to in ICE with a 6-10 speed transmission. That said, I still wouldn't buy one, mostly because I don't think charging your car as you would charge your phone is the way of the future. And because I don't want to be the retard scrambling to find a charging station with 50 miles on the battery, when I could go to a gas station and be done in 5 mins.
Tesla's can do 200 miles on a 15 minute charge now. At that rate charging isn't really a factor for 95% of driving and a mild annoyance for the other 5%
You know the nav systems in Tesla's show you every charging station in the country right? You hit one button and it routes you to one. It takes my S about 30 min to put ~150-200 miles range into the battery at a supercharger. I rarely use those as I have a home charger which is waaaay cheaper to use.
As commuter vehicles they are fantastic. If I had to do lots of long hauls, I'd stick with ICE. Range anxiety is largely psychosomatic (for Tesla', if you get one of the other brands you might be proper fucked).
That said, the torque and acceleration are absolutely insane. The only vehicle I've been in that is anywhere close to what my S can do was a buddies STI that had been built out to put almost 1000 horse down.
Coal powered battery vehicles are great for a daily commute. Charge at night, drive to/from work, call it a day. As a bonus, they are also terrible for the environment.
If you can afford to own one in addition to at least one ICE vehicle for longer journeys, I don’t see a reason not to own one.
All the reasons I would never “only own a battery vehicle” become moot when you have multiple vehicles.
I get this, really, I do. And I agree regarding the commuter vehicle part. That said, 30 mins is a long time for 150 miles, when the average ICE car can get 400 miles plus after 5 to 10 mins from any gas station. And that's assuming you have a supercharger and it's available (not in use).
It's not as bad as it sounds. I've done a couple road trips (visiting a friend in Miami) from the Tampa area and about the time you are wanting to throw a whiz, eat something, and stretch your legs, the car needs a charge.
The FSD (Full Self Drive) is also great. I actually get to enjoy the scenery on long drives.
I don't want to be the retard scrambling to find a charging station with 50 miles on the battery
How about when you can't, and you're now stopped in the middle of nowhere. You can't put electricity in a jerry can. I have to make a long drive every once in a while that goes through a long stretch where you barely see gas stations; forget about "charging stations." Every time I hit this stretch not only do I think, "It would suck to have an EV about now," I also notice I never see any EVs.
The other think nobody ever talks about is how the distance they cite is the MAXIMUM distance on a full charge. They don't subtract for people who may want to run the AC on a 90 degree day or listen to the radio. You don't even have to think about that in an ICE vehicle.
All good reasons for why EVs aren't going to replace ICE vehicles any time soon, if ever. Which is also why I think they are a rich person's toy. You're not going to have just an EV. You're going to have an EV and a regular car.
Which is also why I think they are a rich person's toy.
Also a virtue signaling tool for rich elitists.
The other reason they're not replacing ICE vehicles is the price barrier. As we both agree that, regardless of why people buy them, they're rich people getting them who own a home, likely along with an ICE vehicle, and the ability to have a charger installed in their home. Meanwhile, the majority of people in the country (and world) are working multiple jobs to get by and aren't going to be able to lay out the money required for what's essentially a toy/status symbol. Especially when they learn the tires on that toy have to be replaced almost annually.
Sorry, I don't get this. I get the reference, but I am not sure if you read my post, where I clearly said I wouldn't get one for the reasons outlined. So...Simple Jack?
Dust is combustible. Sugar factories explode from time to time. Hazards are things you measure relatively. Pretending that one or the other is "better" universally is retarded.
EV motors are great technology and often provide massive benefits over an engine coupled to a transmission for light weight vehicles in medium speed applications.
Li Ion batteries are absolutely retarded and in no way can provide a functional replacement over gasoline vehicles in any circumstance.
The battery technology is completely garbage. It needs to get about 2 full orders of magnitude improvement to be a universal win.
The standard range Teslas are moving to Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries. The Model 3 already uses them. They’re non-toxic and more stable than Li Ion.
I've owned a small number of battery-powered "power tools" in my life. In my experience, the batteries don't last very long and don't deliver near enough power for a long job. I do own one battery-powered tool that works well and holds a charge, but it's a tool that doesn't use a lot of power anyway.
Bottom line: If I don't trust a weed trimmer to run on batteries, why the hell would I trust a vehicle? Especially on a long drive or in an emergency.
Rate of discharge is weak and inadequate. Rate of charge is pathetic. Temperature range is weak and makes them ineligible for use in many scenarios and 4 way valves fail easily. Single pack construction that's part of the frame makes the platform prone to failure and more expensive to change.
They're dogshit.
You can charge them a lot though. Which is good, I guess, because you're going to need to in order to get any real utility out of them.
Weird, I have the slowest performance model and it produces about 500 horsepower to the wheels. I think discharge is adequate. They have modular drivetrains that are easier to swap out than gas. The batteries are already designed to do more miles than the average life of a gas motor. I can get 250 miles of range in 15 minutes, and i leave the house with a peak charge on road trips never having to do the initial trip to the station to "fuel up" for the trip. I also never spend less time and effort charging at home for the majority of my driving within 150 miles of my house.
I guess I'm not seeing the same criticisms you are.
People love to shriek about the fire dangers of thermal runaway, acting like there aren’t 50 gas cars on fire across the interstate highway system right now.
If it takes you longer to fight the fire, you have less resources available to fight fires overall. You either need more trucks, or a larger appetite for total losses.
Thank you for that. Really blessed. Your next comment is to describe to the other moron that all cars have been “electronic cars” since at least the mid 1990s. Even though I’m sure a mid 90s diesel had a some electronics in it
Don’t be a pussy. There’s no attitude here except for you to admit you do not know all. An “electronic car” and an “electric car” are two different things, in case you didn’t comprehend that. Branagh is a moron and you thought you would get some ackshully points by pointing out a mid 90s diesel did not require electronics.
The only thing worse than EV's are the people who buy them.
They tend to act very insecure, almost as if they know deep down they got taken for a ride... and that insecurity leads them to aggressively lash out at anyone who speaks ill of their beloved product.
I drive a light pickup that had about 50 hp when it was new, and can beat your toy car in an endurance race (say, 800 miles or so) any day of the week.
Especially if mountains are involved.
Acceleration time is important for toys. Reliability, economy, and longevity are important for tools. Not having to "charge" frequently is important for anyone who regularly drives any amount of distance.
At first I thought you were wrong. But then I started doing math and you’re super right. Even WITH the Tesla level 3 super chargers (30 minutes for full charge), it wouldn’t matter because the only way for the Tesla to even come close to tying with you, it would have to keep the speed under 65 mph to extend the range. At which point, after charging, it would be about an hour behind assuming 2 charges and similar range for the trucks gas tank. I assume the truck barely does 70mph and has a gas tank capable of roughly 250 miles requiring 3 fill ups (3 minutes each). Even if we assume worst case scenario, that the truck gets 8mpg and has a 15 gallon tank, that’s a 120 mile range at the same speed as the Tesla at 65mph. So the truck would have to stop for gas 3 times before the Tesla stops to charge. Even with a 5 minute pit stop for gas (let’s be real it shouldnt take more than 60 seconds but let’s assume pump gas) that’s only a 15 minutes delay by the time you reach 360 miles, at which point the Tesla has to stop for minimum 30 minutes to charge and you’d pass it and it would never catch up again unless slamming on the accelerator which would significantly reduce the range and further inhibit the Teslas pace.
That was fun lol. Also I love your toy and tool analogy.
I've got about a 500 mile range. I can technically get to 75 as a realistic top speed, but it takes a good 30 seconds to get there. It gets around 40 MPG no matter how I drive it - the only thing that changes with driving style is the amount of noise.
It corners well enough that once I get to 70, I'm not touching the brakes come hell or high water.
Once it gets going, it can go longer than I can, and I've worked it pretty hard over the years. I think it's aged better than I have.
So, basically, you are saying what I said was exactly correct: It meets my use case scenario.
I'm not suggesting these things are good for hauling or other tasks, ICE is going to dominate that for decades to come. But as a fun commuter goes, which is what I wanted, its great.
Got 2 tesla fan boys in my department who are maga and they've had zero issue with my issue of battery capacity, charge rates, lifespan, or cost and frequency of replacement.
Maybe you should get off social media and talk to people in real life?
That's how I know they hate it - by talking to them in real life.
But your two examples are probably the way it is with every single other person in the world. Thanks for your all-knowing and exhaustive study involving a whole two people for its sample size. Well done, Albert.
You idiot. Don't you know that he has the largest social circle in the known world? He's spoken with and keeps in touch with so many more people than you've ever even spoken to in your entire life. Of course he's going to know better than you! Go touch grass!
Got another one here. The ignorance I see spouted about EV's around here is fucking mind blowing. Most non-tesla ones are, admittedly, absolute shit. The Tesla's are great though.
I didn't buy mine out of some green stupidity, I bought it because its the only thing under a quarter mil that can do 0-60 in 2.1 seconds and run a sub 10 second quarter mile without $20k+ of extensive modification. Works great for me and my use-case, but they aren't for everybody.
Couldn't agree more. I want people to have choices. I've owned a lot of different vehicles for a lot of different purposes (ironically my prior vehicle was a giant Tundra, and I had a track modified Nissan Z prior to that).
Just sick of the "You drive an EV so you must be a vaxxed trannie communist furry" bullshit.
I'd say you are knowledge adjacent to the subject at hand. I'm a network engineer, I don't opine on database administration or web design. Same applies here. The only systems on that car that have anything in common with an ICE vehicle are the suspension and brakes, not counting bodywork.
You keep that attitude though, that'll get you places.
So someone's private property that didn't belong to you, cars someone might have needed to go to work, all because of your self righteous hatred of a technology.
OP is a faggot for touching peoples shit. If this is true, and it isn't, you're the same as those bitch as morons who slash car tires because they cannot afford nice things.
This post is an L. First off, they’re keeping their battery topped up. Second off, what if I go slash your tires and break your windows in your shitty F250 to save the planet? Don’t be a bitch.
The problem is we don’t have that freedom anymore due to the government’s heavy thumb on the scales on what we should and should not be allowed to buy. You kids have no idea of the amount of freedom you have lost due to CAFE standards.
Although on some level this is playful funny to think about. Do I really have to remind people that we are supposed to be the honorable people in this war? When we start thinking its funny to unplug someone's mom's car who now will be late to pick up her kids from school... its seems very Lord of Flies mentality.
Yes, I kekked a little when I read the title... and clicked. But I would hope no one here (except the shills) would actually indulge in something like this.
There are no honorable people in a war - that's bullshit that gets made up by the winners who get to re-write the history.
Winning requires playing dirty, breaking all the rules, and excessive brutality. Those who are "honorable" get slaughtered, then smeared and slandered to justify what was done to them until the victors are themselves vanquished, and the cycle repeats.
People who bitch and moan about being "honorable" use it as an excuse for being unwilling to get their hands dirty to protect their civilization against the enemy.
Open your eyes and look around you. Look at what complacency has done. All the angry letters in the world aren't going to stop the Communists.
I agree that actions are better than words. I agree that sometimes hard, uncomfortable decisions along with their actions have to be made to regain overthrow this tyranny. I agree that overcoming an enemy requires outsmarting them, disregarding rules that don't make sense or puts comrades in danger, and creating fear in the hearts of enemies.
However, in this endeavor, we should not became that which we hate.
just wait until the local crackheads figure out those charging cables are full of copper
We should just tell them so they know. Unhoused people need sources of income too.
I concur. This has the potential to be a viable source of equity for our disadvantaged
shareholdersstakeholders. That settles it. Tax payer funded ev charging stations for all unhoused and undocumented people in America.
Houses are white supremacy
Give it two months.
Or weeks.
And we'll probably see this headline...
I feel like leftists read our sarcastic posts to get ideas to implement.
I hear that those chargers are full of vibranium!
No, that's an adult toy
Lol
Could come in handy for the piping if they decide to build there own place to live.
Government will bail out the ev companies.
I see another “cash for clunkers” on the horizon

there's probably safeties that are easy to trip
It’s called a fuse but yeah I’m sure they have them lol
With that kinda power, you are still getting fried.
I think a head would explode...
Wood handle axe or cutters do the trick
Just take the car and part it out
Those parts are fucking expensive.
Thieves would need a covered car hauler trailer that has been lined like a faraday cage so they can't track the car.
Can you tweet this to Elon please? He will probly install turrets at all Tesla charging locations 🤣
They are getting stolen, it's just not getting reported. Euphemisms include "out of service" or "disabled"
Or stranded motorists with no protection for long periods of time...
TO LATE...
Copper Thieves Are Cutting Electric Car Charging Cables and Stealing Them https://www.vice.com/en/article/pkgkxn/copper-thieves-are-cutting-electric-car-charging-cables-and-stealing-them
And enough electricity to cremate them on the spot. Let’s tell them about the copper now!
exactly - 1000v at up to 600amps.
"Thinks of fun things to do with JB weld"

I tell this to people all the time. I’m on board with an alternative vehicle if I can get it “charged within 5 minutes and can go another 300 miles+.
The other car in the house is ICE, which I why I've got mine. I wouldn't want to go with an EV as a sole vehicle. We're not quite there yet.
Tesla's can do 200 miles on a 15 minute charge now. At that rate charging isn't really a factor for 95% of driving and a mild annoyance for the other 5%
Yeah the new Gen4 batteries are pretty nuts. I believe the CyberTruck and the Roadster are supposed to be the first with the really high density ones.
I understand the roadster is going to have a 600+ mile range and a sub 9 second quarter time, so its going to be beast mode. $200k is steep though.
You know the nav systems in Tesla's show you every charging station in the country right? You hit one button and it routes you to one. Yeah but my made in Texas car makes a light humming noise and is faster.
It really fast. Gas people big mad. Liberals furious I helped Elon musk. Big win, much happi
Direct drive electric motors are awesome. I’ve got a 1:10 RC that does like 45mph.
A Tesla would be cool too, but I spend all my car money on new SUVs for my wife.
19th was a mistake
I get this, really, I do. And I agree regarding the commuter vehicle part. That said, 30 mins is a long time for 150 miles, when the average ICE car can get 400 miles plus after 5 to 10 mins from any gas station. And that's assuming you have a supercharger and it's available (not in use).

The FSD (Full Self Drive) is also great. I actually get to enjoy the scenery on long drives.
If the battery situation was more standardized (like AA, C, D, 9V), I wouldn't mind a spare EV to augment my beater and SUV/truck.
Until they figure that shit out, no thanks.
How about when you can't, and you're now stopped in the middle of nowhere. You can't put electricity in a jerry can. Absolutely, and not to mention, the government tax credit on them is a tax cut for the wealthy. Just like roof solar panels.
I've got some bad news for you, Simple Jack....
Sorry, I don't get this. I get the reference, but I am not sure if you read my post, where I clearly said I wouldn't get one for the reasons outlined. So...Simple Jack?
Nah. It's a better car under many circumstances. The government shouldn't be involved in proliferation of them, but it's still a good product.
2 tons of batteries wcgw
20 gallons of highly flammable liquid that creates combustible vapor. Wcgw? Statistically more likely to have a vehicle fire than EV.
Dust is combustible. Sugar factories explode from time to time. Hazards are things you measure relatively. Pretending that one or the other is "better" universally is retarded.

gee I wonder which is the bigger risk
😆 yes, because weight equals risk
Fuckin A, bro.

Everyone owns an “electronic car” unless you’re driving a model T
That's very much not true. Diesel engines made as late as the mid 90's didn't require electronics to run.
So if you bought a car since a mid 90s diesel you are a fucking idiot. Nice
I'm not the one who made the comment about being a "fucking idiot". All I'm doing is pointing out how uninformed your comment is.
Thank you for that. Really blessed. Your next comment is to describe to the other moron that all cars have been “electronic cars” since at least the mid 1990s. Even though I’m sure a mid 90s diesel had a some electronics in it

Maybe they were all unlocked? 🤔

Ding ding ding.
OP has never even tried this, otherwise he’d learn about plug locks.
And that’s before you get to aftermarket plug locking solutions, which I myself have, expressly for retards like OP.
+1 ha ha
No you didn't

Battery-powered cars.
(They hate when you call them that)
More like coal fired cars.
Yep! That's what usually charges the batteries.
(They hate you pointing that out even more!)
You find something that goes faster, I'll buy it. I don't care if it runs on the souls of orphans, if it can do 0-60 in the 2 second range, I'm game.
I drive a light pickup that had about 50 hp when it was new, and can beat your toy car in an endurance race (say, 800 miles or so) any day of the week.

What’s wrong with coal powered vehicles?
I think mines technically LNG & Nuclear as Duke is our local provider.
It varies by area, naturally. Mine would probably be mostly coal powered.
Nuclear is the best. If we wanted unlimited amounts of the cleanest energy, we would be building plants non-stop.
But the goal is not clean energy, so no one wants that

What have I done?!?!
I know many conservatives that own Tesla, they like how it drives and no gas and that works for them driving around town here in Gainesville.
They aren’t “car” people but oust of the few hundred people I personally know, like 2 of them are into cars putting money in.

I didn't buy mine out of some green stupidity, I bought it because its the only thing under a quarter mil that can do 0-60 in 2.1 seconds and run a sub 10 second quarter mile without $20k+ of extensive modification. Works great for me and my use-case, but they aren't for everybody.
... so you're admitting it's a toy.
Nothing wrong with that, but there is something wrong with the government trying to force us all to buy toys like that.
I'm a goddamn top tier $150/hr ASE mechanic, what are you cunt?
I'd say you are knowledge adjacent to the subject at hand. I'm a network engineer, I don't opine on database administration or web design. Same applies here. The only systems on that car that have anything in common with an ICE vehicle are the suspension and brakes, not counting bodywork.
You keep that attitude though, that'll get you places.
Thousands of flashlight batteries to be exact.
I carry all the time, and my Tesla alerts me when it gets touched via my phone. This behaivior is a great way to earn yourself some fun new holes.
Golf Cart Science
don't touch other peoples shit.
So someone's private property that didn't belong to you, cars someone might have needed to go to work, all because of your self righteous hatred of a technology.
Hey, the planet won't save itself. We all have to make sacrifices to save the environment -- I'm sure our eco-comrades will understand.
But what about those poor kids in Africa they force to work in lithium pits. You don't get tech without slave labor. You pro-slavery?
Cobalt stupid.
Lithium is leech mined.
However the fuck sword-swallower.
Do you own a cell phone or laptop? I guess you're pro slavery too. Fag
Hurr durr faggot. I'm not the one crying about homeboy unplugging gay ass electric cars you cuck ass bitch.
Yeah, you're a bigot and a fag lol
Sour Raspberries? I'm a fag? Ok trannie. Go dilate your hairy fronthole deadbeat.
You seem pretty familiar with tranny stuff. Gross.
Abso-fucking-lutely!
That's good. Because when your kids are forced to clean the gulag shitters and lick the shit off of their fingers you won't be disappointed.
Deeply weird thing to say about someone's kids. Fucking faggot.
Why don't you go read Bravo Two Zero and see how enemies treat captives you mongoloid. And then gag down a bag of herpes covered dicks loser.
You read a book?!?
Well fren good thing we'll be making a stand long before that. They'll have to take me out shooting before I ever see that happen.
If even one electron in that system came from coal or natural gas the OP literally saved a billion people with xir selfless act of kindness.
Downvote all you want. I’m pro choice. I want everyone to keep the freedom to choose what they want to own and drive.
😭 😭 😭 😭
OP is a faggot for touching peoples shit. If this is true, and it isn't, you're the same as those bitch as morons who slash car tires because they cannot afford nice things.
Communists do not believe in private property rights, therefore there is no need to respect their property.
This is funny. I don't think we should unplug cars but I don't think I'd stop someone who was, homeless or not.
Stolen from a Smudge meme I thought was hysterical.
Look you stupid fag, you cannot unplug a car that is currently charging.
"To prevent unauthorized unplugging of the charge cable, the charge cable latch remains locked"
So quit posting fagbook shit, or cunt filled TikThot shit.
You're an idiot.
Why is this stickied?
OP is a faggot for messing with other people's private property.
This post is an L. First off, they’re keeping their battery topped up. Second off, what if I go slash your tires and break your windows in your shitty F250 to save the planet? Don’t be a bitch.
Leftists already do things like that, and immigrant "doctors and engineers" will steal your wheels.
Several years back they were telling everyone to unplug phone chargers when not in use to save the planet.. Guess you missed that
A car is a phone charger?
Its lost on you I take it
No I get the gay post. It’s a race to the bottom to see if you can out gay the left. Honestly seems like OP and you are winning.
Agreed this is like OP is on his knees with 3 cocks in his mouth trying to talk shit about what faggots everyone else are.
First off, you cannot unplug a charger in use. It's literally locked with metal into place.
That’s not every car, smart guy. Go ram your f250s tailpipe
Funny, that's the same logic I used when I salted and poured battery acid on your lawn.
People can’t just laugh at a joke these days.
Get the giant sticks out of your asses and allow yourself to laugh.
Kek!
The problem is we don’t have that freedom anymore due to the government’s heavy thumb on the scales on what we should and should not be allowed to buy. You kids have no idea of the amount of freedom you have lost due to CAFE standards.
Of course you did.
KEK....
But did you recycle the tires?
Too late. Some joggers were putting them in their Ram 350s
I can't even come close to that. I'm going back to bed ;(
Absolutely Demoralized
I don't think petty shit is helping anyone but the communists, but that seems to be our mission at this point
Fake bullshit posted by a liar with fucked up morals and who’s no better than a leftist.
All the teslas have cameras, be careful
Wait until these crank heads figure out a way to get high sticking their dicks in the charging stations.
A modern day Tyler Durden
So edgy
Set them on.fire, fag
You’re a loser. Leave people’s property alone.
This is just as cringe as Redditors who empty tires. Get a life
Communists do not believe in private property rights, therefore they are not entitled to any.
And someone is a communist simply for concluding an electric car fits their needs? Get a grip
I'd rather be Elias than Barnes, even if that means I'm dead.
You sound like you have too much Bunny in you for my liking.
In years to come, your sterilized children will quietly curse your cowardice as they serve their new masters.
ok. sure. Bunny
