If I concede that welfare isn't going away and I have to compromise, I would support government run grocery stores if that was the form the welfare takes. That is: if you live in an area where there is a government run grocery store and you receive food stamps, the food stamps can only be used at said government run grocery store. Moreover, the government run grocery store should only have bare essentials.
But we all know that's not how this will play out. If they tried that, there would be cries of racism because people on welfare don't have as big of a selection as people who work for their money.
Instead, these stores will be massive money sinks, subsidized by tax dollars from whiter areas. Administration costs will be incredibly bloated versus a privately owned store. The stores will be gross because of the clientele having no respect for their surroundings and very few people will actually shop at them. The reality is that the real causes of many of these issues (homelessness, racial inequity, etc.) are things that we are not allowed to talk about, and certainly things we aren't allowed to take real action to solve. Instead, we make up alternative causes and then try desperately to fix those. Of course, since they aren't the real causes, these measures never have any effect.
Homelessness is not a product of capitalism. It's not caused by lack of access to housing. Those problems are already solved. There are programs upon programs to ensure that you can get housing. The real problem is mental illness, drug addiction, and general lack of will to actually improve your situation. People who genuinely stumble are able to quickly get back on their feet. The rampant homelessness you see on the streets today is people who gave up on their own volition. Not because it was too difficult, but rather because they don't find the effort worth it (or they are mentally ill or addicted to drugs).
Inequity is not a product of white supremacy or white intolerance. It's caused by... people being different. Not everyone is going to get the same results, even if given the same opportunities. Racial inequity isn't evidence that the system is failing a particular race; it's evidence that there are differences (cultural, biological, or otherwise) between the races as a collective.
Every real solution that could be implemented is immediately shot down as racist or inhumane. To solve homelessness, yes, we need to ramp up drug rehabilitation and mental health hospitals to meet the demand. But the real problem is that these places aren't at capacity yet because very few people actually go. The real solution is to force these people to go to these programs. Then we need to ensure we have enough capacity to accommodate. The way to do this is to enforce the law. It should not be legal to sleep on the sidewalk. It should not be legal to be publicly strung out on fentanyl on the sidewalk. Once one of these laws is broken, the police should arrest you. The sentencing for these crimes should be dictated by a judge who analyzes the situation. If it's mental health related, the sentence is being committed. If it's drug related, the sentence is rehab. If it's a one-off thing while you are genuinely trying to get on your feet and something crazy happened (rare), perhaps there is no sentence. If you're respectable and just decided to do it because you enjoy sleeping on the sidewalk, perhaps a small amount of jailtime or a fine (also rare).
To solve "racial inequity," we do nothing. There is not a problem to solve. People are different. All we can do is ensure everybody has the same opportunities, and we are already doing that. There is tons of upward mobility in the US. Some ways we can improve, perhaps, are being tougher on crime. One of the hardest thing a black kid has to deal with is the rampant crime in his area. Lock them up and perhaps the kid will have a chance.

Open cans of paint, random light fixtures and door assemblies… they weren’t interested in the single pane windows I removed while upgrading to double, so apparently they have standards, but… there’s nothing in ours worth stealing, imho
Here in Chicago they tend to focus a lot on higher-end furniture, unique pieces, high quality in general. Then of course you have the run of the mill basics for 10-50 bucks for a dresser or whatever, but a lot of the time they’ll have some super fancy custom Italian designer sofa for 14K that winds up selling for 5K on discount color days, or custom built dressers that won design awards at shows or museums for 12K, that one sold for something like 7K, you’ll have real nice high quality essentially brand new (like if a Chase or bank closes done or a firm goes out of business) ergonomic chairs that are 700-1600 new, selling for 200-300 bucks.
So yeah you can often find real nice shit at the.Chicago store, but stealing is so easy it’s laughable. The guy looks me dead in the face and says, "write me a fake invoice for $37,500.00 then delete it from your computer and charge me the normal price. When they pay me I'll bring you $15 grand in cash and keep the other 15." He just said it like we were talking about the weather. I said no and told him I wouldn't do it. He called my boss who called me a retard and did it and got paid 15k for defrauding the city. Nobody batted an eye and he kept this hustle up for ten more years before he retired.

If I concede that welfare isn't going away and I have to compromise, I would support government run grocery stores if that was the form the welfare takes. That is: if you live in an area where there is a government run grocery store and you receive food stamps, the food stamps can only be used at said government run grocery store. Moreover, the government run grocery store should only have bare essentials.
But we all know that's not how this will play out. If they tried that, there would be cries of racism because people on welfare don't have as big of a selection as people who work for their money.
Instead, these stores will be massive money sinks, subsidized by tax dollars from whiter areas. Administration costs will be incredibly bloated versus a privately owned store. The stores will be gross because of the clientele having no respect for their surroundings and very few people will actually shop at them. The best selling products will be bullshit "food" like pizza rolls.
Ultimately, it will go just like every other welfare/equity program goes: nothing will improve and the same people who supported this program will cry "why is nobody doing anything about this problem?"
The reality is that the real causes of many of these issues (homelessness, racial inequity, etc.) are things that we are not allowed to talk about, and certainly things we aren't allowed to take real action to solve. Instead, we make up alternative causes and then try desperately to fix those. Of course, since they aren't the real causes, these measures never have any effect.
Homelessness is not a product of capitalism. It's not caused by lack of access to housing. Those problems are already solved. There are programs upon programs to ensure that you can get housing. The real problem is mental illness, drug addiction, and general lack of will to actually improve your situation. People who genuinely stumble are able to quickly get back on their feet. The rampant homelessness you see on the streets today is people who gave up on their own volition. Not because it was too difficult, but rather because they don't find the effort worth it (or they are mentally ill or addicted to drugs).
Inequity is not a product of white supremacy or white intolerance. It's caused by... people being different. Not everyone is going to get the same results, even if given the same opportunities. Racial inequity isn't evidence that the system is failing a particular race; it's evidence that there are differences (cultural, biological, or otherwise) between the races as a collective.
Every real solution that could be implemented is immediately shot down as racist or inhumane. To solve homelessness, yes, we need to ramp up drug rehabilitation and mental health hospitals to meet the demand. But the real problem is that these places aren't at capacity yet because very few people actually go. The real solution is to force these people to go to these programs. Then we need to ensure we have enough capacity to accommodate. The way to do this is to enforce the law. It should not be legal to sleep on the sidewalk. It should not be legal to be publicly strung out on fentanyl on the sidewalk. Once one of these laws is broken, the police should arrest you. The sentencing for these crimes should be dictated by a judge who analyzes the situation. If it's mental health related, the sentence is being committed. If it's drug related, the sentence is rehab. If it's a one-off thing while you are genuinely trying to get on your feet and something crazy happened (rare), perhaps there is no sentence. If you're respectable and just decided to do it because you enjoy sleeping on the sidewalk, perhaps a small amount of jailtime or a fine (also rare).
To solve "racial inequity," we do nothing. There is not a problem to solve. People are different. All we can do is ensure everybody has the same opportunities, and we are already doing that. There is tons of upward mobility in the US. Some ways we can improve, perhaps, are being tougher on crime. One of the hardest thing a black kid has to deal with is the rampant crime in his area. Lock them up and perhaps the kid will have a chance.
It feels pretty ironic that we get told that diversity is our biggest strength at the same time as they want to tell us that all people are equal.

Here in Chicago they tend to focus a lot on higher-end furniture, unique pieces, high quality in general. Then of course you have the run of the mill basics for 10-50 bucks for a dresser or whatever, but a lot of the time they’ll have some super fancy custom Italian designer sofa for 14K that winds up selling for 5K on discount color days, or custom built dressers that won design awards at shows or museums for 12K, that one sold for something like 7K, you’ll have real nice high quality essentially brand new (like if a Chase or bank closes done or a firm goes out of business) ergonomic chairs that are 700-1600 new, selling for 200-300 bucks.
So yeah you can often find real nice shit at the.Chicago store, but stealing is so easy it’s laughable. I’ve seen people literally carry out an entire heavy ass cabinet through the front, load it, snd go, and there’s nothing they can do about it except file a report with that police department who are babysitting illegal invaders and couldn’t give a single shit that someone stole a 200 dollar chair.
