My kid went from thriving academically and athletically to giving up and barely graduating. His long awaited baseball season with a big Florida trip and a new playing field (supposed to be the first class to break it in) and possible dreams of playing in college were gone. They kept dangling the carrot for going back to normal with community college which didn’t happen. This lead to a lot of bad decisions and poor mental health. Still picking up the pieces 3 years later
So sad to hear. I hate the "experts" and epically the teacher's unions. The kids were expecting change for part of the year, then back to normal. Every time the light appeared at the end of the tunnel for some ridiculous mandate to end, just a few days prior, oh sorry, some new variant was discovered we must research or the positivity rate was down to %3.65, it needed to be %3.64 to go back to normal, etc.
Never forget the "science" of cutting a hole in a mask to play a clarinet, sax, etc. or needed a mask to play basket ball, but being safe from the Coof in the school pool.
