'Union Joe' Biden Teamed Up With GM Chief To Push a Transition to Electric Vehicles. It Could Come Back to Haunt Them.
President Joe Biden praised General Motors chief executive Mary Barra at a 2022 event, saying "we owe you big" for pushing the auto industry towards all-electric production over the next decade. The president’s kind words for Barra, and their decision to t...
Ah. "Woman CEO".....Now it makes sense.
Women Leaders... especially radical white women Leaders. The absolute worst. Emotionally unstable, vindictive, illogical, on and on.
Ask Bud Light how that worked out!
You forgot leftist. Don't lump conservative women in with these bitches.
Are conservative women willing to give up the vote so that it goes back to only those who have a stake in this country (I.e. pay more into the system than they take out)?
Probably would be if you could take out dumb lib feminut vote at same time.
IIRC, Obama had her installed during the bailout.
If government were a business, it would be bankrupt
And here we are -
It is a Bankrupt Government Services Corporation. Owned by a Bankrupt Banking Corporation.
And here we are -

Barra was short listed as VP for Hillary
Barra was appointed by 0bama in the last days of Government Ownership of GM.
She has been beholden to GM's Chinese partners, SAIC, and has imported cars from China in to the US.
She’s also on the Disney board.
Barra might actually be the worse CEO ever. Her moistness over electric golf carts is laughable but even the real vehicles she is responsible for suck.
When you look at Barra, the man child running Ford, and the actual dumpster file that Stalantis is, it’s no wonder foreign manufacturers are killing it here and globally.
Should have never bailed them out.
What a YUGE opportunity for President Trump to win over the unions. At least the percentage that can think for themselves. They need to see that they have zero future under the Uniparty globalists
GM closed Lordstown and a few others while Trump was president. They’re going to move jobs to Mexico no matter what because they care only about saving a dollar.
Didn't they blame trump for their inability to run a business?
Imagine thinking unions won't vote democrat forever
Most of the other worldwide companies are building their cars with more American Content than the big 3 is doing.
For example, although Hyundai is a Korea Company, their production lines in Alabama are producing cars with a higher US content than ANY of the big 3. The big 3 has a LARGE amount of their production in Mexico, where they do not have to worry about the UAW.
Probably part of the reason why their quality is garbage
Very true.
To a large extent, the "you get what you pay for" statement is true.
Mexico is still 3rd world. Worked a while in El Paso. We used to get shipments in large cardboard pallet size boxes. People from Mexico would come pick up the thick cardboard, and take it across to Mexico to be used as a home construction material.
Yep. My '02 Camaro was built in Canada, my old Dodge diesel was built in Mexico, my wife's Subaru was built in......Indiana.
I talked to a guy who was a manufacturing repairman. A big semi company has trucks made in Mexico and the trucks came to the US with the most retarded flaws and quality control issues.
Too big to fail bullshit. Capitalism spoke and the government shouldn’t be bailing out anyone.
To be fair GM has sucked, they still suck but they used to suck too.
Wow I hope nothing bad happens to the General.
Such a good company with great values /s
Barra was appointed by 0bama in the last days of Government ownership of GM.
She acts like their Chinese partner, SAIC, runs GM and has been selling cars in NA built in China, which means she shares the NA market with their Chinese partner for no reason at all.
I had no problems with EVs until talk began to circulate about eventual mandates of its technology. With the manufacturers being in bed with Big Government, they're able to slow-boil it...
"EVs are the future!" Sure, anything will be the future when governments collude and keep whacking away at the square peg until things "fit."
If you took away Big Government's scaffolding in this, it'd slowly fade away.
If it's so good a mandate wouldn't be needed. Coughs in vaccine.
Tesla wouldn't be a company if not for the government.
Cough Cough SpaceX also
I agree, we should all get either a free Tesla or a round trip up on one of his rockets.
We paid for the shit
EVs are still in infancy, but the media and government want to make it out like it's ready for primetime. Until EVs can outperform ICEs in power, capable distance, and recharge time then they aren't ready to supplant ICE vehicles. In fact, I'd imagine that the components of EVs would be nothing like they are today by the time they reach that point.
Also add in the electrical grid component for an extra piece of the puzzle. All shows that the government mandates are driven by agenda beyond anything else.
"EVs are still in infancy..."
"...by the time they reach that point."
Remarks like those insinuate that they WILL reach a point like that, which isn't a certainty. Despite popular belief, tech advances can have limits, especially where batteries are concerned. It's really appealing to assume things like, "tech will advance our problems away," but that's not how the real world works. Not only will battery tech need to make leaps and bounds to reach functional parity to ICE tech (and not just from the standpoint of using vehicles, but also from the standpoint of comparisons between each type concerning how they're manufactured and the energy or resources that go into that), but it also represents the most granular level of the overall tech stack used in EVs. Because of how elemental it is in its research, you'll only be able to advance it so far and last I heard, said gains or advances being made in battery research were marginal at best.
Battery technology would have to evolve to be made from different materials than what we're currently using. I'd imagine that at some point there would be some sort of advancement that can get us there, but who knows when that will be? Too bad we couldn't just electrify the roads and make it work like trains.
Fine, but if the "advancement" is being made just to get us there without regard for whether it's actually in our best interests or because it results in our lives being better, then it's not actual advancement but rather just more square peg-whacking for the sake of making EVs "work."
Nowadays, people have fallen into this weird habit of seeing tech change--not necessarily improve; but just change--and they often automatically chalk it up to advancement without remembering that the whole purpose of technology is to make human life better. And so far, EVs aren't doing that. They haven't really even come close by my measure.
Their tech isn't that great or isn't a net improvement worth ditching ICE for. They haven't led to decreases in costs, they haven't even resulted in less raw resource usage, especially when compared to what they'll need to consume to reach parity with what we currently support today with ICE-based vehicles, and especially-especially when comparing the amount of raw material for fossil fuels with what's believed to exist for today's batteries. And sure, right now, you might be able to say that with things like solar panels and or whatever free charging one can find in various grocery store parking lots or whatever, that you're saving but we all know that little benefit will run out sooner or later once utility companies start lobbying for higher rates (which they're already doing) and once government bodies fully incorporate miles-driven taxes to offset gas tax losses. Hell, they're not even safer. If anything, they're more dangerous.
They're just all-electric. That's it. And people see that and somehow conclude that it's technological progress when in reality, it's just different.
Graphene has entered the chat.
So has an interjecting Ian Crossland who always offers a daily dose of pie-in-the-sky lexicon with no single piece of practical proof a gnat could peacefully plant its fat ass on.
Calm down and take a sip of water. All I'm saying is that someone will crack that nut at some point. I don't believe in impossible.
You don't know that, though, and until it happens, you're wrong since you tried to speak as if you do know.
And that's the beauty of resorting to tech and innovation to explain-away real world limitations and realities. It's the same apparatus authors use whenever they write science fiction stories about concepts they know nothing about or lack appropriate knowledge of to convince their readers of ideas they enjoy conveying: it saves them the pain of admitting that they could be wrong or that they know nothing about what they wish to be authorities in. It also allows them to avoid living in a world with less magic than they'd prefer, a harsh reality too few successfully accept.
Oh, I could be wrong, and never claimed to be an authority, and I do agree that the big thing holding things back is the current battery technology. We just aren't there yet, but they keep pushing these vehicles on us. Apparently I have triggered You because of a little joke that I made about some articles that I have read, so calm down, and take deep breaths.
The idea that we can swap EVs for gasoline/diesel transport and keep our current lifestyle, is insane. It will never happen.
The electrical grid component (transmission lines, substations, transformers at homes) is a trillion dollar roadblock. It requires money and embodied energy.
So is generating enough energy to replace the fossil fuels currently used.
The energy required just to build out the nuclear plants, mine the uranium, produce the wire, towers, substations, transformers is also absolutely huge. Trillions too.
It will never happen.
What will happen, is that gasoline cars will be outlawed or taxed to the extreme, and very few people (compared to now where even the poor can have an old car) will own EVs. It will be public transport for the masses. Individual mobility will be a thing of the past.
For the greater good.
They're not in infancy, they were around in the 1920's
That's 100% the problem. EV technology is fine, it has pros and cons. Choice is always good forced choice is never good.
That last part should be #11 on the Bill of Rights
They are fucking useless of course they are gonna mandate them.
Union members need to elect an outsider, a "Trump" to their leadership instead of the same old folks who are more concerned with pushing communism than protecting their own union members.
That'll happen just about the time they find Hoffa
Yep. Unions have always been headed by organized crime.
What a Nasty Cunt The creators of these automobile companies would be turning in their Graves, what are the chances this nasty, ugly. Filthy cunt knows anything about automobiles. What a dumb fucking cunt. Go back to the Kitchen and Change your Fucking Oil cunt
their hours and pay demands are retarded, but they got this one right
The UAW endorsed Biden. Fuck them all to Hell. Hope they starve.
Not mentioned is that the battery and electric motor assembly plants are being built in right to work states. Having worked in several large manufacturing facilities to main goal is fewer human interaction in production. Automation with EVs will dramatically reduce human involvement. There won't be a union representing elrobotic assembly lines. This is thier extinction.
So if they get like a 30% raise and 32 hour work weeks with overtime after 32 hours, will taxpayers be footing that bill on top of overpaying for cars?
Everyone involved is trash.
The Finnish woman weirdo.
The Creepy potato.
Every union "worker".
Barry and Biden laundered $23billion to them, who then made sure Barry and Biden got some of it too.
Had hoped all three "big" automakers would go bankrupt.
Their communist unions disappearing.
The factories bought by sane people who would make nice automobiles.
Instead. Biden and Barry killed Pontiac, and then tricked people into Cash For Clunkers.
If there is a company people think of when they think about Electric Vehicles it is GM.
Think of electric vehicles, what’s the first company that comes to mind. That’s right, GM.
I've always viewed GM as our version of a state-controlled automaker. Their bureaucracy, lack of innovation, and general mediocrity give away how much in common they have with our government agencies.
Tesla
I am very confident that u/Oldjeansandbelt mean that post with extreme sarcasm, but I suppose I could be wrong.
Why should I even think of a way overpriced golf cart that you can't use for any long trips, and can turn into a pile of HAZARDOUS WASTE in a nanosecond with the strike of a keyboard at Tesla Central, or possibly even CCP central.
Normally I would side with the union on this one. But, they actively campaigned for Biden.knowing not only his environmental position on cars, but also his alignment with economic interests that want to eliminate and/or offshore American manufacturing.
They voted for this. They all deserve to be homeless bums begging along Woodward in the snow.
Good way to control the population with electric spy cars.
I'll buy an elecTRICK car as soon as Elon builds and launches the first battery powered rocket into orbit.
What's a matter Elon, your batteries aren't good enough to use to power your rockets?
How much CO₂ does he produce with every Falcon 9 launch?
HUGE amounts, that's how much.
There's one rocket that uses batteries to spin it's turbines ... and then chucks the into the ocean as soon as they're depleted cause they're heavy! How's that for environmentalism?
Ah yes Astra, the innovative rocket company whose stock is down 99%
Ah, yes. I was talking about Electron by Rocket Lab, but apparently Astra uses them, too.
One thing has nothing to do with the other. This is a stupid comparison.
Elon is one of the greatest producers of, what the left calls, God awful CO₂.
The U.S. EPA calls CO₂ a pollutant, so Elon is one of the greatest polluters of all time.
A woman running the largest American automaker seems to not make much sense unless it was part of the plan all along. Automotive is fucked.
Hawaii now union members.....really getting what they voted for.
Women tend to make shit CEOs
She is not going to stop making cars and trucks, she is just going to let us all suffer until she can restart making cars with slave labor.
Go ahead, you auto workers try to resist her and Biden, it will be an education for you and all of us too. Maybe millions, even billions of us will finally get a glimpse of the same demon who was the shadow partner of Hitler, Stalin, and Mao. But remember when push came to shove they all resorted to murder.
UAW will be voting Trump!
She’s there because the deep state, and her purpose is to push money to the deep state, not build cars, employed people, or help this country. Not even help GM stock. It’s all about how she can push money
In my Hagerty magazine, they explain how GM needs to sell gas powered cars in order to develop the EV stuff. GM invested almost one billion bucks on V8 engine plant retooling. I guess they're hedging their bets.
Get a male CEO back in and bring back the Camero!!!
Leave it to a chick to fuck things up.
This is like us voting for Trump and then complaining when we get a border wall.
10 yrs from now when supply backs up an they're going bankrupt the gov will be there to bail them out with 700 billion of ur money
The answer to all this is clean elections. We get the right people into government then non of these bailouts would happen. Everything government gets its foot into destroys the industry.
My final screening before investing in a company is where its headquarters is located and seeing if the CEO is a POC or a women. Odds are they didn't get there on merit.
Of course the Biden loving piece of shit UAW would point their finger elsewhere!
lmao! good let them code u voted for it now live with it ! I love when liberals get a taste of liberalism!
leave it to a woman CEO to fuck it all up
So you can give the 53,000 that are left a raise. or fire them too DGAF
Ah so the problem is actually those white supremacist terrorist misogynist unionistas. Of course.
Yeah its because of her lady parts, not the strategy being stupid /S
Why do I keep thinking a real man wouldn’t fall for this garbage?
