True and also why would anyone want to be on a Jury today when the gov forces you to take time off of work, sit at home waiting for a phone call and then if you actually get picked they pay you peanuts?
The odds of actually being picked as a juror are a remote longshot. Plus, judges and lawyers would be able to tell I can think for myself, and probably exclude me.
It's also tough because most jobs don't pay when you're on jury duty. You either have to use vacation time or take unpaid time off.
If I did get to the point of being in a voir dire room, I would look at the defendant, listen to the summary of charges, and decide if I was willing to make a personal sacrifice to keep them out of prison. If yes, I'd try to get picked. Otherwise, forget it.
I doubt I would be able to get picked, even if I tried.
The last two times I was called for jury duty, I was dismissed the same day without even being interviewed to be on a jury. Both times it was the day before a holiday, obviously a slow court day. It makes me wonder if I'm on a list.

The whole thing is a fucking joke.

I did it twice so I know all the ins and outs.
Almost lost my job. They told me if I didn't show up I'd go to jail so my boss had some sympathy for me, But let me tell you they were happy about it.
This happens every day to people.

My dad always said juries are made up of people too stupid to figure out an excuse to get rejected.
Definitely not a Jury of Our Peers
