Some of us oldsters already died in the great y2k, and 2012 nothingburger calamities. But I don't expect todays youth to have attention spans even long enough to finish this sentence.

Some of us oldsters already died in the great y2k

I was a sysadmin[1] at the time. Installed patches and Bob's yer uncle. A windoze manager at work looked at me, aghast, and asked wasn't I going to stay ALL NIGHT in case something broke?!?!?!?!?! *snort*

About two years later a user went to the help desk with Y2K problem in an obscure function in LaTeX. I dug into the source and found the bad date function along with a comment that said (paraphrase) "I know I'm doing this wrong and it will break in 2000, but not my problem."

Some of us just inherently understood the world wouldn't end because a computer most likely just needed a date and time change.

The powers that be have been attempting to sell fear porn for many years. There's only so many times the end of the world as we know it can supposedly happen until you realize its bullshit.

Now, that said, there is totally precedent for economic disaster, ala great depression.

That sure as shit can happen again and likely is already happening right now, just slowly.

No one knows until everybody knows, right?

Was Net Neutrality the biggest nothingburger of all time? I could never tell exactly what the motive behind the propaganda was

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 16 ▼
– Futuramawe 16 points 73 days ago +16 / -0

Once you clear away all the bullshit, net neutrality was an attempt by the deep state to prioritize traffic to sites they deemed worthy and to throttle bandwidth to sites they considered disinformation.

The Bolsheviks wanted the power to tell ISP's what websites you could visit while using their network. Regardless if you pay for it or not. Ultimately they wanted to control the flow of information and also pick winners and losers in the business world. You know, real Fascism.

Yup, Net Neutrality was incredibly seriously bad. I'm still amazed by all the so called "tech specialists" (including influencers) that were all for it. I basically stopped listening to a lot of people in the tech space after that.

You are so right. I was against the idea of this crap back when the Leftards were prattling on about it all the time. It just felt like they were trying to provide a solution to a non-existent problem. Now that I read your comment, in retrospect it was the attempted start of the fascistic information control they so desperately crave.

It seems that since they were unsuccessful with 'net neutrality', they instead infiltrated boards of companies they wanted to control. Companies run by Leftist shitbags like Jackoff Dorsey rolled out the communist red carpet for the feds.

Communists fight on hundreds of different fronts simultaneously. It's not like like they fail at one thing and try another. They try 100 different things all at once and learn from what works and what doesn't. They're constantly testing new methods of acquiring power.

They're like parasites, constantly evolving. It's important not to underestimate them.

Then you either pay a fee to your bank, or you're miserably deep into debt within that bank. Anyone who isn't in debt is charged a lot for the "privilege" of having a bank account, even tho you're basically forced to have one to work and pay taxes.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 7 ▼
– schiff_for_brains 7 points 73 days ago +8 / -1

Amex charge cards have a fee. Amex credit cards do not always come with a fee.

One interesting thing about Amex - they will backdate all new lines of credit to match your Member date. So if you open a new line with them it can be a substantial boost to your credit score if it makes a big impact on your average age of accounts. You can add your kid to your accounts and get them started with a really nice score if they are mature enough to use it properly since their account age would match yours.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 5 ▼
– SonofAnu 5 points 73 days ago +6 / -1

You should add your children to all your cards as a user and let them reap the credit score benefits of on time payments. If god forbids something happens and you miss a payment it doesn’t reflect on them just the on time payments.

AMEX is not a great company and the whole point of this post is how they’re going woke and screwing Lindell.

Screw them, there’s other ways to build a credit score.

In fact, I got an email just today from a company claiming to be a non-woke credit card company. Didn’t have time to check them out, but the parallel economy is real and exploding.

A brand new account won’t help. But if you can get an account that has a significant impact on your average age of accounts it would. Or if the extra credit drops your utilization down below certain thresholds.

Check out CreditBoards.com before you do anything. Those credit nerds are great at gaming the system.

Having a credit line involuntarily closed hits much harder than 30 to 40 points.

Credit scores are statistical models that predict your risk of default. For the most part, they are stateless. That point can be a bit hard to understand since the dataset they are calculated from is your "credit history", which seems like it should be pretty stateful.

But "average age of credit lines" is calculated in a very literal way - no consideration is given (in this factor) to what the line was opened or closed, or why. They just add up the months in the current data and divide by the number of active lines.

Had it with these Epoch Times articles. Always need to sign in or create an account to read them. In that case, moving on.

I used to subscribe because they do good work and are honest, but those demands to sign in to read just pissed me off so much I cancelled my membership (I use brave and never store credentials, so it was literally every time I clicked on a link). So yeah, it’s decidedly annoying

Archive it bypasses the paywall. There is also a website or bot or something that you enter the URL and it displays website without the paywall. The equivalent to how Nitter is to Twitter/X.

I know how this feels. One of my biggest struggles is keeping a credit card processor, although this looks like a line of credit, but still it’s political targeting; for my business because I’m considered “high risk” luckily I’ve had a stable one for nearly the last 2 years albeit at a much higher rate than normal processing, but if credit card companies found my post history here, I’d probably be in a real mess lol. I feel like a douchebag for not buying MyPillow products, I just don’t shop very often and only buy the bare minimum of what I need, but I should get a pillow soon. Best of luck Mike, you’re a stand up guy and great American no matter what anyone else has to say! (And he may be largely responsible for the failure of one of the worst retail stores in history: Bed Bath & Beyond.

How does the loss of a 1 million dollar credit line cripple a company like his? I figured My pillow would have at least 10 million cash on hand.

As I understand it: companies don't have large sums of cash lying around. Cash doesn't make money. It's usually all tied up in investments somewhere. Short term loans are a normal part of normal cash flow for bigger expenditures. That's why they're vital to running a business.

Having a million in unused cash lying around is not good business. Cash doesn't make you money. Companies invest into assets that make them money. Meaning almost all their value is tied up somewhere. Which is why short-term loans are common and vital for larger expenditures.

My business had unlimited Amex credit in 2008. Never missed a payment - about 50k per month. During the Asian financial crisis Amex closed my account. Well, technically they allowed me 800/mo credit. But it crippled my company just like that, and over the next few months Amex had to eat 40k+ in bad debt. There was no access to credit anywhere. I pray Mike can get some credit to pay his people and suppliers or he will go under.

Remember how the Nazis bankrupted the Jews before the full on frenzy began? Warning signs of what's to come. Today it's just a credit card, but if we allow them to continue how much more are they willing to take from law abiding citizens without fear of retribution? It's the ultimate slippery slope and it's become a pattern. Why would anyone be surprised when they start demanding further punishment in the future?

And not one democrat will ask themself “what crime did he commit to deserve being unpersoned and summarily destroyed?” If a person doesn’t at least question this then they are rotten to the core and you should make sure not to remember them for later.

Sounds like he is we using the loan to fund his election fraud investigations instead of using for “My Pillow”. Breaking the terms of a loan agreement will get it canceled pretty quick.

When I took out my construction loan on the house I had to keep receipts on everything and submit them whenever I bought something with that loan money. It’s was pretty explicit what I could and could not use that money for.

Fuck Amex. I went to close my account tonight, since I never use the thing except for some auto-billing streaming services. I moved all that to another provider and went to cancel my account. I had some "rewards" money that was substantial enough for me to have it applied to my balance before I cancel my card. But cancel this card I WILL.

If you buy slippers, buy at least 1 full size larger. I am 10 1/2 E, tried 11 wide, not big enough. Returned and got size 12 -- fits fine.

I also have pillows and Giza sheets, but returned original model of mattress topper as foam layer made it too hot. Instead of returning topper, they gave me full prompt refund after doing what they told me to do -- donate to Goodwill or Salvation Army and provide them with receipt.

Phone staff always friendly and helpful.
