The police chief who led a raid of a small Kansas newspaper has been suspended
The police chief who led a highly criticized raid of a small Kansas newspaper has been suspended. Marion Mayor Dave Mayfield on Saturday confirmed to The Associated Press that he suspended Chief Gideon Cody this week.
The message here: we the people outnumber the elite and their foot soldiers, we are moving forward
Qualified immunity doesnt stop the spending of taxpayer money on weaponized DOJ against their so called enemies of the state.
This is top comment on a sheriff who took it upon themselves to go after a newspaper
Even raided the vice mayors house!!
Qualified immunity only happens after your department reviews what you did and decides it was within the law and their established protocols.
In this case the town’s legal counsel would advise the town to not extend qualified immunity and probably fire him.
Qualified immunity isn’t carte blanche protection from lawsuits. There are hurdles to jump through to get it.
The people are the ones jumping through those hurdles Not the cops Every single time a cop violates civil rights or the constitution that's when it's qualified immunity goes however as it is written they're practically allowed to break the law and get away with it.
They you go, citing the law again, silly comrade. Everybody knows some animals are more equal than others.
I would agree with this if
A. Criminals were always held accountable and
B. Police officers paid into a legal insurance pot
Qualified immunity is about going after the individual officer not the police department. The police department can't say qualified immunity and then not pay out to a victim.
Yep. Let them or their union pay malpractice insurance as doctors do. The bad ones will not be able to get insurance and have to leave the “profession” or risk losing everything
Oh sure, that will work just as well as for doctors, who join big groups that investigate themselves and cover their mistakes with white sheets and very carefully-written technical papers and send them off to other practices to kill again. Source: docs in family who watch it happen. Yeah, most of them are injected too.
You're right. We should continue allow cops to do whatever they want and when the citizens whose rights were violated sue the municipality, their fellow citizens end up paying for the cop's malfeasance. It's working so well
How did you get "do nothing" when it's the opposite of what I said? This is why they don't teach logic and rhetoric in public schools, it assures uncomprehending conclusion-jumpers result. Sad
Qualified immunity makes sense. it is also qualified.
Qualified immunity doesn't apply here because there is nothing remotely reasonable about this.
at their discretion, so politics comes into play. if they scratched the right back during their career then they can expect their back to be scratched.
there should be a jury hearing where taxpayers get to decide if qualified immunity gets extended.
Qualified immunity is about suing the officer personally, not the department.
Qualified immunity is about the state picking up the tab to defend an officer sued personally. so yes the tax payers are on the hook, and it should be up to a jury of taxpayers, not their buddies in the department
Charge the pig with manslaughter too
Wait, so the protestors at the capital LITERALLY killed the officer who died the day after of a heart attack? 🤔
It was a stroke, shill, it wasn't the next day, his family says unrelated and want to be out of the whole pawn game. Nice try though. Not.
publisher Eric Meyer Eric Meyer Meyer
uh oh.. the cops toast..
I see a suit for "wrongful death"
Suspended with pay i bet, just like every single government parasite out there never any accountability.
Yep. Slap on the wrist most likely to get him out of the public eye then he will be replaced by another stooge.
Non adversarial questions:
Why bet?
Why post guesses based on despairing feels?
Helpful, how?
Perhaps helpful because this comment did inspire me to pray for you, me and all of us?
Bottom line, during this vicious, 24/7 psywar, and kinetic war, it can be difficult to remain Light Hearted so please forgive me if I came off as judgmental rather than empathetic.
Perhaps realizing how hard it can be to remain Light Hearted is why I'm so grateful for Light Bringers like President Trump and people like OP.
Because in over 99% of cases, cops are always suspended WITH pay, it's a perk that I and I don't get, and we certainly don't get it when we cause the death of an old lady with our bullshit, but the cops do.
Is it at all possible that this is the ultra rare exception? Yes, but you can play the lotto with 01,02,03,04,05,06 and probably have a better chance of striking it rich than a cop being suspended without pay.
A good solution would be either to give them back pay if found innocence or make them pay back when they're found guilty but of course not that makes too much sense They will never do it.
Trials take years at times.
"That sounds like a luggage lock combination..."
Nah, it's a password
See SpaceBalls...
Lol, right. Sorry I'm in IT and the trope is real.
Ahhh, now I get it. :) Yeah, if you have to work on their machine, at least you can get their password from the post-it taped to their monitor. ;)
Are you fucking retarded dude or what what bot response
Light Headed bot...
Immunity needs to end.
Attacking free speech needs to be treated like the treason it is.
Thanks for the update, OP.
Good. Now disembowel him.
He should be suspended by his neck from a rope.
He should have been put in in cuffs and taken into custody, not just suspended!
I used to do an 'exercise' on FB and other media where Id find someone that blurred their license plate out or something. Sometimes they were just being a douche about like tracking Musk or some kind of privacy shit. It usually takes about 15-30 minutes to find everything out about someone with just a name and a city. Id post a picture of their house or something in their comments thread as in the case of defending people tracking Musk with publicly available info. Suddenly posting locations with publicly available info wasnt cool any more.
Even made some kid delete his entire YT account. Was being a huge douche; found a video of him doing some kind of 'pro gaming' thing. Welp you have to register with your real name and I found that based on his gamer name in the video. He was being a huge douche; acting like he was rich/wealthy and talking down to others. Found out he lived in a shitty apartment with his brother and another roommate and the car he had was gifted to him by his grandparents and shit like that. Crazy details. Found where he worked and basically all the details of his sad life. Called him out and his entire account disappeared.
I also used to do it a lot in car and truck groups; not maliciously though. It started out as me taking the challenge and then talking to them privately and telling them how ti took like 10 minutes to find out where they lived by all the other info they had posted on their own free will. Heres what to delete or make private so people cant just find your house so easily. Its pretty easy to connect dots and gather info these days. This is something the younger ones get right and dont make FB accounts with their whole life posted.
Its called Open Source Intelligence and its not illegal.
My understanding is there was a 'relationship' between the restaurant owner and the police chief.
Holding individuals responsible - they who make the decision - is a step in the right direction.
LOL! I live in the KC Metro and almost no one here is talking about this.
The raid on the man's home wound up killing his 98 year-old mother because she literally died from stress the day after the raid.
This is deeply rural Kansas so justice will eventually be done one way or another, either by the feds/state or the locals.
But they will find nothing wrong after they investigated themselves.
Something is coming down from the KBI or the State AG, or the mayor wouldn't have done this. They are trying to stay ahead of it.
I'm praying you spelled "executed" wrong???
The raid caused an enormous anxiety episode that contributed significantly to her death.
Was this a SWATting? Or was this just the police chief being a royal douche to her?
Her family should be lawyering up, asking for search warrants indicating probable cause.
That police chief ought well lose his job, and be charged with some degrees of abuse of power, reckless endangerment, and negligent homicide.
Likewise his subordinates. At some point, the phrase "I was just doing my job!" ceases to be an excuse.
Now run him out of town🎯
6 weeks??? WTF took so long?
I forgot about that, total bs.
The Law of the West.
A properly knotted rope...
he should be suspended from a tree by the neck
Cuckservative like their" thin blue line." Fucking terrorist flag.
Good. Fire him
It's because he was recorded doing it
I bet Xi Jinping and Putin would be proud of him.
He should be hanged for raketeering...
