If you guys havent noticed. Trump purposely adds in leftist talking points into his speech/tweets/etc in order to drive a wedge into the Dem party. Few people have the ability to naturally spot weaknesses in people/organizations and attempt to exploit that.

Trump has backed off any gun legislation as of late, as he realizes it is unpopular with his base. However gun legislation is still popular in the Democratic base, he is trying to exploit that.
