Yeah, that’s true. Bongino says he’s glad he lost his election, he’s more effective in his current role. I’m grateful to the Freedom Caucus members, though. Battling from inside the swamp must be excruciating.
I always tilt towards the rebels, so Bannon gets my attention frequently, but I thought I remember him bagging on Trump a bit after leaving the team. Was that fake news, or maybe just my faulty memory? Or maybe a misdirect? ?
In Michael Wolff’s book, he quotes Bannon as saying that the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower was “treasonous,” “unpatriotic,” and “bad shit.”
Bannon later claimed he had been mostly referring to Paul Manafort’s role, but it was portrayed by most as a criticism of Don Jr as treasonous. As this was under active investigation, having someone like Bannon call it “treasonous” was highly threatening to Don Jr.
On top of the known antagonism between Bannon and Ivanka and Jared, this was one step too far for Trump. He called Bannon “sloppy Steve” and excommunicated him.
Why Bannon would give fodder to a POS like Michael Wolff is anyone’s guess. I suspect he had an outsized opinion of how essential he was to Trump and was leveraging that to create a wedge between Trump and his family.
Bannon also did little to counteract the notion that he was the “shadow president” or the real person in change, as many dem media outlets claimed. While total bullshit, IMO this may have rankled Trump. Whenever we see people make it more about themselves and their own agenda rather than as a faithful and humble implementer of the Trump agenda, they soon end up dismissed.
I still like Bannon. I think he made an injudicious comment and pushed Trump too hard. But I think his heart is in the right place and he is a warrior. I wish him the best.
Thanks. I suspect no one but Trump and Bannon will ever know the truth of things between the two. Since Trump rocks that 24d chess, then I always consider the possibility of him running a misdirect. I could imagine Bannon doing it as well.
He's still out on the trail for POTUS. I think some can survive in government roles and others make better street fighters.

Maybe, he is just a true patriot and wanted what is best for the country.
tip-top
Bannon was fired after calling the Trump Tower meeting “treasonous.”

So Trump was wrong about Bannon? No.
