This post is a follow-up to the previous 'suggestions & bug reports' thread.

To address concerns over our domain registrar, it is currently in the transfer process. The site may be briefly unavailable at a point during this transfer.

We've made many changes since the last update and will continue fixing issues and adding new features, including flairs, dark mode, and more.

  • Adjusted text post content color in listings to be darker.
  • Improved thumbnail quality substantially.
  • Added option to share to WhatsApp.
  • Added icons for various platforms' bookmarking & "add to homescreen" functions.
  • Changed the link behavior of thread titles on listings. (if text post or embeddable, link to post, else link out)
  • "Contact the Moderators" email address is now functional.
  • Fixed issue where some threads would reportedly "error submitting comment"
  • Fixed share buttons on mobile.
  • Now remaining logged in throughout updates.
  • Zero downtime updates.
  • Fixed the primary cause of error pages.
  • Fixed issue where profile comment view was case sensitive.

You'll likely have noticed various other changes and fixes over the last few days.

This is our public Trello board where you can see the bugs and features that are being worked on.

Use this thread to note any other bug reports and suggestions that you have.

You can also continue reporting bugs in Discord and elsewhere on the site.

We need decentralized hosting.

Yes! That would make us truly unstoppable!!

We could also perhaps look into organizing a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), which we could use for fundraising activities and so much more. It's a totally new capability that hasn't been demonstrated yet, but I know we have the energy to do it!! Let's show em how it's done!

I actualled invested in this ICO but got out after it flopped for 6 months straight. But I still like the concept of Aragon!

It's actually incredible what they've built. Ethereum isn't ready for real mainstream for a nother 1-3 years, but it would be interesting to see what we can do with it. I have some ideas I'll try to put together in a post.

I need to see my original comment when someone replies to me.

Yes, because by the time you see a reply, the only way to find it, is to keep paging back to that post (which is usually impossible to find) would be great to click on it and be taken back to the post.

Not really. As long as the domain registrar and DNS server is trustworthy, the actual site host doesn't really matter. Can be moved as necessary. As long as they take frequent backups.

If domain/DNS isn't trustworthy, then nothing else matters. That's why it was so important to move away from GoCommie GoDaddy.

> As long as they take frequent backups.

And your backups are local and offsite

Very real threat of "uh, hate thoughts -> "coincidental" ban across multiple services wiping out all access"

The current setup uses cloudflare. So in theory, if everything is setup correctly, only cloudflare knows where the server is. So the server is not the weak link, it's the domain name provider and cloudflare. Cloudflare used to be awesome but in the last couple of years they have banned several sites like 8chan.

Honestly the sole weak link is the domain provider. You don't even technically need DDoS protection. It's obviously smart, but as long as you have the domain and can point the DNS to resolve to whatever server (or Clownflare type service) you are using, you're good as far as maintaining access to the website.

Registrar is the main one that has to be trustworthy.

Run your own authoritative DNS server. its really simple, and cuts one more place where your site can be fucked with.

Decentralized hosting is the only hope for free speech on the internet. Bandwidth is also a problem - because the only video hosting website with the bandwidth to sustain what is needed is Youtube, which is why free speech is about to be snuffed out completely on there, in just a few weeks - but the free market can work miracles, and I'm confident a solution to that will be found.

pocketnet.app is trying to build their social media network entirely on a blockchain. anyone can download and run a node... the underlying CC is required to buy advertising on the network, and everyone (users and nodes) gets a little slice of the cash. interesting idea actually.

Now what is blockchain? I've heard some stuff about it, but I'm not sure what it is.
