>In his resignation letter, which was posted on Twitter, Spencer said he no longer shares “the same understanding with the Commander in Chief who appointed me, in regards to the key principle of good order and discipline.”
>“I cannot in good conscience obey an order that I believe violates the sacred oath I took,” Spencer said, adding that the president deserves a Secretary “aligned with his vision.” -- https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/defense-chief-esper-ousts-navy-secretary-in-trump-seal-fallout/ar-BBXh72X (archived here)
Last I checked the US Constitution says the entire US military works for the President of the United States of America. It's about time this deep state loser learned that lesson. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Dick!
He was a neo-con anyways
He was a defense contractor dick sucker.
How big is his book deal?
It seems really foolish for the former Secretary of the Navy to choose this hill to die on. Gallagher was retiring from the Navy and all he wanted was to keep his Trident Pin indicating he was a Navy Seal and they wanted to take it away from him as he was departing. They could have just let Gallagher go on this one, the Secretary would have kept his job, and nothing of value would have been lost.
As always, I appreciate that he chose to resign rather than stay in his position and sabotage the administration’s agenda.
He didn’t choose. The Secretary of Defense ORDERED him to resign:
“Secretary of Defense Mark T. Esper has asked for the resignation of Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer after losing trust and confidence in him regarding his lack of candor over conversations with the White House involving the handling of Navy SEAL Eddie Gallagher.”
What sacred oath would he have broken I wonder?
Probably not an oath he took publicly.
