Legalize it. I’m a Christian, hard-working programmer, and father of three.

A little pot in the evenings makes me a better husband and father.

20
BTFO 20 points ago +21 / -1

Same here. Family man, Engineer, Christian, very productive member of society, Trumplican.

No reason that a productive member of society shouldn’t be allowed to grow a harmless plant and utilize it for positive reasons in the comfort of his/her own home. We aren’t Commie China. Legalize it across the board medical and recreational.

Yes! Then free everyone that was put in prison solely for possession or consumption. (Maybe shorter the sentences for dealers). That would be an extra million people to take all these job openings and increase the economic output of the USA even more! Apply sales tax and now corporations can sell it safely legally and they will pay corporation tax( instead of having cartels)

I want it legalized because Friday nights I want to decompress for a few wee hours, and on Saturday be ready to crush it. Can't do that with 6% pints.

Also a stoner programmer.. I think there's a lot of us

16
1in1024th 16 points ago +17 / -1

I don't even want to smoke it; but why should I care if other people do; so long as it's not ruining families like meth or crack

6
rustyrockers 6 points ago +6 / -0

Raised Catholic, I was told it was the devil. But there's 450,000 deaths annually in US from alcohol and tobacco --- ZERO from weed. I'd love for it to be legalized and treated identically to alcohol. 21 to buy.

Last year I went to my very first Catholic wedding (and first time ever being in a Catholic Church), and oh my do they sure love their alcohol! After the long marriage ceremony, literally EVERYONE (from young to elders) went down the road to the bar and started hammering beers. Then after that, went to the reception and kept hammering the booze. It was definitely an interesting thing to see as I come from a Christian family that never drank.

Tried to drink a few times throughout college, but I never enjoyed it. Booze often times tasted like ass or fingernail polish to me, really messes up good decision making abilities, I always ended up becoming nauseous, always puked my guts out before the night was over, and then woke up feeling depressed and crappy.

I tried cannabis (Indica dominant) for the first time a couple of years ago and I was amazed. Happy, great/loving mood, decision making abilities still fully intact, laughed a lot, chill, slept great, woke up feeling amazing.

I realize that not everything works well for everyone, but I couldn’t believe how positive of a thing cannabis was whenever I was told and observed throughout society my entire life they alcohol was okay, and cannabis was some evil gateway life destroying drug lol.

It's a gateway for people are too young to have their shit together, or are already open to it being a gateway to other stuff.

Hahaha, you and I are similar when we smoke weed, then..I'm a giggler. Ive had times where I laughed so hard my abs were sore as shit the next day, like a super workout, but from laughing. Hahahaha

lavendarlady 5 points ago +5 / -0

I don't either , but it is like owning guns. I should not tell people what they can't do. If they hate guns they don't need to use one.

15
JeskaiMage 15 points ago +17 / -2

I support legalization but I don’t like the idea that one man gets to make that call.

That being said, the government has no business declaring any drugs illegal.

SheikFromMozambake 12 points ago +12 / -0

Making cannabis legal at the federal level wouldn't make it legal everywhere. It would leave that up to the states. The important thing it would accomplish is keeping federal law from disagreeing with state law. Frankly, I'm surprised GEOTUS didn't do it long ago.

14
johnrambo 14 points ago +15 / -1

He said it should be up to the states during the campaign.

3
johnrambo 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's what leaving it up to the states means. To get the feds out of it.

13
f_bastiat 13 points ago +15 / -2

I hope the left makes that their main campaign focus and as soon as they get all their promotional material printed up, Trump legalizes it in a tweet.

10
BTFO 10 points ago +10 / -0

Their heads would explode and Trump wins in a landslide.

5
Magafactured 5 points ago +6 / -1

I don’t know if I could take that much winning - can you freaking imagine??

(OK, I could take it, but cot-DAMN ???)

13
MAGAmanforever 13 points ago +14 / -1

Decriminalize, leave legalization up to each state.

11
rcianpandacian 11 points ago +13 / -2

no unnecessary gov meddling

10
spez_this 10 points ago +10 / -0

This is a tricky question for me in that, in my opinion, it should not be a federal issue. They use the interstate commerce clause to justify regulating drugs. As long as the drugs don't cross state lines, federal laws should not apply. However, states can regulate drugs within their borders. If a state decides to legalize cannabis (as long as it is grown and distributed within the state) it should not be a federal issue.

10
fireitup50 10 points ago +11 / -1

You've got my vote.

7
S-55 7 points ago +7 / -0

This should have been a matter purely left to the states in the first place. If voters in a particular state already voted to legalize, they should not have to face another hurdle at the federal level.

In addition, doctors serving federal employees with chronic pain will have the option of prescribing medical marijuana instead of being forced to prescribe opioids.

I personally support it as well. A great way to relax at the end of a stressful day of work, I prefer it to drinking.

4
rustyrockers 4 points ago +5 / -1

I prefer the morning after of a joint to the morning after of a few pints, as well.

It's not evil, but I don't like stoners driving around and getting into wrecks - killing people. Plus, addiction rates in pot states where teens smoke is 25% higher than anywhere else. Pot doesn't have good effects on teens. (I used to smoke in teens and early 20s. Results weren't good for me.)

1
BTFO 1 point ago +1 / -0

And I think we all agree. Treat it just like alcohol. Teens shouldn’t be using it, and you definitely shouldn’t be driving while high.

-1
rustyrockers -1 points ago +1 / -2

treat it same as alcohol. 21 to buy

5
Canapeder 5 points ago +5 / -0

It was about time in Canada and it's about damn time for the USA. People going to jail, and if not, having the stress of going to court and fined for something so benign as smoking marijuana is an absolute waste of tax payer money and immoral to boot.

I don't man. I'm having second thoughts. As a smoker of 15 years or so I'm not really feeling the vibe anymore. Trump should probably do it just to take out the youth stoner base though but it seems he already has it and just needs to keep doing what he's doing.

Every commie would abstain in protest, every patriot would celebrate their newfound freedom responsibly. The commies in their self-imposed sobriety would have time to think about things rationally and be converted into productive members of society.

Win/win!

3
Sugardik 3 points ago +3 / -0

He doesn't have to legalize, all that needs to be done is remove it from being a schedule 1 narcotic.

my non-medical guess would be having something to do with canabinoid receptors and how it affects cortisol production. Cortisol convinces your body to store fat reserves. But that's just where I'd start looking for an answer.

Making cannabis legal at the federal level wouldn't make it legal everywhere. It would leave that up to the states. The important thing it would accomplish is keeping federal law from disagreeing with state law. Your state can keep it illegal if you so wish/think that keeping cannabis illegal provides some sort of 'benefit'.

The die hard lefties won't care.

1
Lemontree73 1 point ago +1 / -0

It has never made sense to me that it is illegal, when alcohol is so much worse in my opinion. Legal here is California and there are really no issues because of it that I am aware of.

1
ChanmanUSA 1 point ago +4 / -3

Not for legal weed.

7
rustyrockers 7 points ago +7 / -0

Just curious, why? I'm not a smoker by any means, but the main thing that made me stay away hardcore when I was younger was the general apathy and lack of discipline and ambition in my friends of my early 20's. Nobody did jack shit.

A friend of mine now is a Marine and he's a regular potsmoker.

2
Killer 2 points ago +2 / -0

ignorance usually, also your friends were just lazy it sounds like

4
rustyrockers 4 points ago +4 / -0

the potheads were already lazy pre-weed, true

5
Killer 5 points ago +5 / -0

would you rather the cartels keep a hold on that market?

6
rustyrockers 6 points ago +6 / -0

whoops, legalizing it, there goes billions from criminals!

4
BTFO 4 points ago +4 / -0

And that's fine. Making cannabis legal at the federal level wouldn't make it legal everywhere. It would leave that up to the states. The important thing it would accomplish is keeping federal law from disagreeing with state law, and would remove federal government over-reach. If you are so against legalized cannabis, then you can vote to keep it illegal within your state.

1
TheSwiftPepe 1 point ago +2 / -1

Nope! Legalize it at the state level, not federal.

Don't grow the government's power.

Spez: as other pedes are pointing out, I had my facts wrong. Leaving original comment for history sake.

3
BTFO 3 points ago +3 / -0

Making cannabis legal at the federal level wouldn't make it legal everywhere. It would leave that up to the states. The important thing it would accomplish is keeping federal law from disagreeing with state law. Legalizing it at the federally level would give power back to the states. It never should've been illegal at the federal level to begin with.

3
Digital_Boy 3 points ago +3 / -0

Supremacy clause, pede. Basically, federal law overrules state laws. Like the others have been saying, declassifying marijuana at the federal level remands power back to the states, who can legalize or not as they see fit.

I'm all for it, as it removes one more avenue through which the government can insinuate itself into our private affairs.

It would also help disempower the cartels to a degree. They don't profit as much on marijuana smuggling as they once did due to the decade and a half or so of state level medicinal and recreational legalization efforts, which allowed non-cartel growers in the US to provide it.

It would also be a boon for medical reasons since it would allow universities, hospitals and corporations to develop THC and cannabis derived medicines.
