Was POTUS not allowed to stand directly beside the dog? In all the pics I saw, there was always someone else - either the handler or Pence - between him and Conan at all times.
Someone on the other board said they thought Conan would be bigger, lol. But you have to remember that these dogs get into the hot zone by being strapped to a soldier who is rappelling down from a helicopter, and so a smaller dog would be more practical for that sort of work.
Which might explain why they used a female dog. They are generally smaller than the males and a 90-lb growling sidearm might be more practical than one that weighs 125 pounds, lol
