Do with this information as you wish.
From one of my posts on reddit.
One person wrote "young black men (3% of the population) commit over 50% of crime.
Some dumbass replied "No, he can't [back up that claim]. Cause it's racist bullshit."
This is my reply to that dumbass
He was wrong but not because it’s racist bullshit, but because the actual statistic was
“violent crimes,”or murder. And from your same table seen here, blacks or African Americans commit 52% of all murders. 60% of all murders under 18 years old.African Americans are 12.1% of the population, about half are males who make up the majority of these arrests. So that means ~6% of the population are committing 52% of all murders. The only leap is assuming the age range of the offenders is 18-45 years old which is where he got to his 2% statistic
You trying to silence him by accusing him of racism ultimately hurts the population disproportionately committing these crimes. Remember, the first step to solving a problem is by acknowledging there is one.
And no, skin color isn’t a problem. But black men are disproportionately raised in single parent households. While 74.3 percent of all White children below the age of 18 live with both parents, only 38.7 percent of African-American minors can say the same.
One of the biggest predictors in criminal behavior.
From this source
>63% of all youth suicides, 70% of all teen pregnancies, 71% of all adolescent chemical/substance abusers, 80% of all prison inmates, and 90% of all homeless and runaway children, came from single mother homes.
At the moment three things come to mind when you think “What pulled apart black families”
Edit: This isn't about what % of murderers there are relative to their population, we live in peaceful times, but about how disproportionate they are relative to other races:
0.55 asians per 100,000 are arrested for murder
2.12 white people per 100,000 are arrested for murder
13.29 black people per 100,000 are arrested for murder
I think African Americans represent about 13% of our population, so it's more likely that black males represent 6% rather than 3%... unless the number has been adjusted down to remove very young children and very old black men and the African American males who are already incarcerated.
Ah thanks for the clarification.
Adjusted because the majority of violence comes from younger adults aged 18-45. The 6% figure would include retirement age black men, and children.... Who are typically non-violent. Adjusting for the active population, meaning those active enough to go out and commit violent crimes, about 50%, would come closer to that 3% figure
Yeah, the numbers outside the 18-45 range would probably be statistically insignificant. It, really, makes sense. Though you would have to say that me margin for error on the number was a little higher, it wouldn't be by a lot.
Please understand that this tells us two important facts:
This is reality

Great comment. I'm guessing this gathered a handsome amount of downvotes.
On the contrary, I flipped the narrative on them and that guy I responded to went from 20ish upvotes to being negative

Thank you for bringing data and enlightenment.
Don't you know that data is racist?
Thank you for putting this post together, it's a real eye opener. I had not seen it presented like this before.
