The fact that they were saying "harassment" when they really meant "any mention of his name whatsoever" is what prompted it. And the mods were very clear about the difference. The reporter surely read the entire statement by the mods and understands what happened, but wants to make it sound like people moved to a different site so they could continue "harassment" that never existed.

Instead of reaching out to the principals involved in their story - In this case, moderators of thedonald.win - they just write a mostly misleading story about their own opinions.
For example they say we moved away after being warned about “harassing” Eric Ciaramella, the whistleblower. Only we were not harassing him. We were just naming him and discussing his background and motivations. They could have written our mods and found out that t_d was the ONLY subreddit not allowed to name the whistleblower, among many other special restrictions and filters placed on our former Reddit home. But instead they chose to not do real research, not contact the principle subjects of their hit piece, and instead be typical POS fake news.
This genie of fake news can never be put back into the bottle. America has moved past the era where the media was trusted. This kind of lazy, awful journalism is exactly why.
They keep getting rewarded with clicks. The guys on /r/politics figured it out during the election before it went completely off the deep end. "Journos" were writing click bait articles and posting them there.
