Our pathetic, lying, rotten to the core academic institutions not only accept bribes to let actor's kids in, they accept fake credentials in order to get foreign resident fees, which are expensive, and countries like China and India are all to happy to pay. I recently visited a friend at a uni here and I met a Chinese student who joked that the new library built was funded by Chinese students, so I asked him what he meant, and he said he pays a lot more for tuition, because he was foreign. I also noticed that he drives an Audi and has a very nice watch. His family is wealthy in China. Even the ones who are legit, who study STEM fields, they just return back to China, and if they are grad students they get their eyes on a lot of cutting edge research before going back. Of course this is all fine because potentially asking your research colleague if he just happens to be a spy for the People's Republic of China is "problematic". Meanwhile our future mathematicians are scrounging for a bread loaf to eat while their parents OD on fentanyl imported from China.
