The down-vote button is like a Therapy Dog to help people cope when they see facts that aren't politically correct i.e. hate-facts / wrong-think.
How could we pretend that reality is politically correct if all the hate facts weren't down-vote brigaded by NPC?
Excluding downvotes would take this place from rally to hugbox very quickly.

Not all posts glorify the greatest Republican President of all time. Some are submitted by the fan clubs for Rand Paul, Glenn Beck, Jeff Sessions and Sloppy Steve. I used to enjoy downvoting those. Oh well.
