There is no such thing as hate speech.

Change my mind.

I'm not going to change your mind easily if you don't believe hate speech is real.

The beauty of it is that I don't have to! The Constitution protects hate speech.

The part about hate speech that most people who engage in it don't understand is that it's a marker. It lets others know that you hold an extreme, generally stupid, degree of dislike towards something.

However, a LOT of rational speech is falsely called hate speech.

Talking about how most of Islam is fundamentally incompatible with Western civilization is not hate speech, because we can objectively prove that Islam is far less tolerant towards Western culture simply by looking at some countries where Sharia Law is actual law.

Talking about the problems associated with indoctrinating pre-teen children by attempting to 'normalize' LGBTQ behavior is not hate speech, because we can objectively prove that a lot of variants of the LGBTQ community have enormously high suicide rates. Encouraging children, who have no idea what sexuality is, to make life decisions that have a significant chance of leading them to a bitter life, and an early death by suicide, is not appropriate.

However, making blanket statements that you hate all folks who follow Islam or are LGBTQ is hate speech, because you do not know all of them. You are making judgement calls on people you have never met, based only on hate.

There are good people who are Muslim, and LGBTQ. You just might not know any.

When you make boldly negative blanket statements about entire groups of people as individuals who you know fuckall about, that's probably hate speech.

How is this any different than me saying I hate anyone who drives a Volkswagen? Is that hate speech too? VW lied about emissions testing for profit. They voluntarily polluted our world for money. I despise them as a company. I think anyone who has bought a VW after 2016 is a terrible person or ignorant. The same could be said about muslims or LGBTQ based upon what they generally support. If you still consider yourself a member of those groups you can fuck right off, I can hate you if I want. If you are a gay or a muslim and you are opposed to what the majority of your group thinks, well Ill un-hate you when you let me know that. You are guilty of your associations. Just like they all hate us for voting for Trump in general. You have to convince them otherwise. I treat others like they treat me.

Yep, so what? And I'd call it more like a strong dislike based upon the stereotypes they wear for all to see. Hate takes a lot of investment emotion wise. I wouldn't waste my time hating them.

And again if they choose to associate them selves with those groups they deserve any hate they receive. I know quite a few gays/trans/lesbians/muslims. They agree with me on everything I hate about their group think bullshit.

I'm with MaxineWaters4Prez, there is no hate speech. Just offensive speech, which is fine. Almost everything out of the democratic primary candidates mouths offends me. They definitely use "hate speech" by your definition to describe all Trump supporters as well as Trump himself. Also, the constitution does not mention hate speech. It's a made up liberal term for speech they don't like. We really shouldn't act like its a real thing.

By this definition, hating everyone who's a Trump supporter is hate speech because they don't know all of them.
