Years ago a buffet-challenged black woman was triggered by my obama-joker shirt in a Fry's store. She was hollering at me and advancing on me saying she was gonna rip that offensive shirt off my back. As she came at me I laughed and said yes, the sorry SOB on my shirt was offensive, that seemed to excite her even more. As she got to me I stepped back just as she grabbed at me, she overbalanced and fell down at my feet. Then she began screaming for someone to call the police, claimed I had knocked her down.
Store manager rushed over, I'm laughing, a couple of other customers are filming, and they supported my story; I did nothing, the woman attacked me.
The woman was hollering for the cops, so the manager said he'd call them but they would likely arrest her because witnesses said she was the aggressor. Yup.
Anyhow, no, the Enemy may not take my stuff, period. Not without paying a price for my troubles.

In a lot of cases people are just generally hateful and latch on to whatever they think is socially acceptable. In 2016 a lot of them were convinced that it's socially acceptable to hate those MAGA hats... so it's not really about the hat, it's about the hate.
