Can confirm. Am currently on the process of becoming a Brazilian LEO and TD always loved Law Enforcement, only criticizing it when it deserved. I can also confirm that Reddit admins are fags.

The fake news against President Bolsonaro is almost analogous to what President Trump endures.
But things are looking up already. Violent crime is down more than 20% (murders included), the economy is slowly but surely recuperating thanks to some reforms and we already have easier (though not cheaper yet) access to firearms and plenty more calibers. Civilians couldn't own anything above .380 for automatic pistols and .38 special for revolvers. Now the civilian market is open to 9mm, .45, 556 (for target shooting, but we got ARs!) and a lot, lot more. This is specially important to municipal (local) police. They're a relatively new thing since the police was always a state thing, so they weren't covered on our pathetic gun laws that exempted police forces from caliber restrictions. They were forced for years to carry full sized 380 pistols. There are thousands of municipals guards this year buying their first 9mm/.40 firearms. Those poor guys suffered for years.
We're still stuck with mostly Taurus but its only been one year, and gun stores already have plenty of imports for sale. Even though they're expensive at least they're less likely to shoot themselves like some Taurus pistols like to do (just search "Taurus malfunction" and have some fun). I can't wait to enjoy these new, but still restrictive, freedoms and start doing reloads to actually be able to afford to train.

Lula being released from prison is just the consequence of our Supreme Court doing what it does best. Misrepresenting the Constitution to get their desired result. It's a living document! The precedent has already released other criminals like thieves and murderers. At least Congress seems to be trying to enact a law to avoid that from happening again, and hopefully the bastard goes back to the hole like he deserves. As for his campaigning, it's been mostly inconsequential. He organized a march in a leftist stronghold and basically no one besides his own party members and a few extremists showed up.
I do believe the right can get things right here. Bolsonaro is launching his own conservative party which will of course be loyal to him, unlike the current one. The conservative discourse is extremely appealing to Brazilians since we're always angry about corruption and violence, and this is what the President focus on. Anyone who adopts the same discourse is sure to win. And approval polls are not legit, specially in Brazil. The most known poll here is owned by a media company that openly hates him. Most people distrust the media.

yes and no. how do you rate the SJW cops in San fran? What about the power tripping cops that detain you illegally or seize your shit and keep it? Most cops I believe are good people. That doesn't mean there aren't any issues. Yes the law is the law but the way you go about enforcing it makes a difference.

Hate for 1st amendment because no criminal likes being called out which makes nearby easy victims into wary & alert people who will not be such easy targets
Hate for forensics, due process, evidence & chain of custody, bodycams, and anything else that provides accountability and transparency as part of the legal process, because all of these make it harder for criminals to prosper
