I told the truth to both my friend and the girl but paradoxically still tried to court the girl who had some serious problems of her own, and strangely, half-heartedly went along. I also pushed my friend away because I wanted to stop my feelings. The end result? Years of misery and depression for both me and the girl (that actually became physically dangerous at one point) and the friendship between me and the guy almost ruined.
What saved me was meeting my first boyfriend (and Trump). Yea, he was nothing special, and we probably used eachother as emotional crutches, but feeling loved worked wonders. Now I'm still good friends with the guy from highschool, parted with the girl (and the ex) on good terms, I'm happy, motivated and the most important thing; I'm more of a dedicated right-winger than ever, because I've learned the price of ideologies and learned to appreciate it.
