I am not a christian, and i don't think it is anyones business who fucks who in a free country like ours, but i am with you guys on this one.
As a younger person the idea that the bible beaters want a theocracy was all the rage. As a grown up I just don't see it. Sure, there is a push here and there, and there are perfectly good organizations successfully pushing back, but the doom and gloom hysteria is bullshit. And it is easy to see why: pretty much every single christian denomination in this country came here from Europe escaping religious persecution. I would even argue that America changed christianity worldwide and helped create the peaceful religion it is today, where the usual view is "you're going to hell and i don't want you to, but that is not really my business, it is between you and god". I have met thousands of christians, and i can count on one hand the number of people who have tried to pressure me into going to their church.
Instead what i see is the people i thought were right when i was younger are trying to force you fine people into accepting things you are ideologically opposed to into your personal lives. That is unacceptable.
