Agreed. I picked it up when I saw triggered libs counting the minutes until a female character arrived. Stayed cause it actually managed to capture some of the New Hope grit. Also the wipe/circle transitions are pretty nostalgic.
Idk. It's better than anything Disney has put out since they got the Star Wars license but the script writing is kinda flip floppy. For instance, the Mando was introduced as some badass character of few words. Later, the dude gets way too talky for what we expected and loses to everybody, including fucking Jawas with stun rifles. The ost for Episode 4 (of the Mandalorian) was attrocious, too.
But Firefly had consistent character development arcs. You were either a rookie (possibly on their way to becoming a badass) or a badass, not both depending on what the plot needs. It's lazy writing, otherwise. I'm not expecting super thoughtful themes and crap but I do expect some consistency.
