Most cats are the natural predator of birds. They aren't invasive species as they existed since the medieval in most countries. The only difference is that the number of cats has increased due to a higher survival rate because we started taking better care of them.
The reason that we are seeing less birds is that we are isolating our homes better (no nesting possibilities in roofs) and are decreasing the natural sources of food by being selective with plants in gardens. Add the excessive use of pesticide for even harmless insects and you have a reason for the decrease in birds

You know who doesn't spay or neuter their cats? Muslims. Muslims also allow their cats to wander freely outdoors.
