I seriously doubt there is any "algorithm". And, there are simply too many videos or ads on Google for a human to review everyone of them. The clue to what happened is in the article:
The report notes the campaign videos generally ran over the summer but were taken down by the companies after only a few days.
The key is "after only a few days". Social media companies rely on crowd-sourcing to do at least the initial screening. An employee doesn't get involved until enough users hit the "report" or "complain" button. Then, they might look at it, but are more likely to simply remove/block the content until the originator files an appeal.
Per Pew Research in the last year or so, a leftist is more likely to hit the report button over something they disagree with, while a conservative or moderate will just ignore it. This is why conservative content gets targeted, and as conservatives quit the platform in disgust, it turns into a leftist echo chamber.
He suggests ditching Android (meh) for Apple . Is he kidding? Yeah, Android can't be trusted, but it doesn't follow that the substitute is China's butt buddy.

We found that over 300 video ads were taken down by Google and YouTube, mostly over the summer, for violating company policy. But the archive doesn't detail what policy was violated. Was it copyright violation? A lie or extreme inaccuracy? Faulty grammar? Bad punctuation? It's unclear. The ads determined to be offending are not available to be screened. We found very little transparency in the transparency report.

They just waited until now to reveal their solution, which is to remove all Trump ads (and claim to be removing all political ads) while allowing some Dem bullshit to slip through, of course...
This won't stop us. We're strong on the grass roots level. Democrats need the propaganda to succeed, while the benefits of Trump's work are readily visible in the real world: strong economy, no new wars, de-escalating wars, renewed patriotism, and a big beautiful wall going up.
