The 34th District of Texas was one of the four new districts created in Texas as a result of the 2010 census. According to that census, the population of this district is 89.6% White and 82.6% Hispanic. The first election was in 2012 and was won by the current incumbent swamp rat, Democrat Filemon Vela, Jr. The courthouse in Brownsville is named in honor of his father, a long-serving federal judge. A Republican earned 36.2% of the vote that year. Last year, his Republican challenger earned 40% of the vote. This seat is ripe for flipping from Blue to Red with the right candidate and the right message. Yet there is currently no Republican registered for the primary, and the filing deadline is a week away.

This district runs along the Gulf of Mexico from the Mexican border, in a narrow strip north to I-10 just east of San Antonio. The largest city is Brownsville, and the district also includes Port Isabel, San Perlita, Harlingen, and everywhere south of I-2 east of Pharr. Then the district moves North including La Feria, Santa Rosa, Lyford, Raymondville, and San Perlita to the coast. Going North, the district includes the towns of Kingsville, Premont, Alice, Orange Grove, and Mathis. It includes downtown Sinton, Odem, and Saint Paul, but does not include any of Corpus Christi. The district continues north including Beeville, Goliad, Nordheim, Yorktown, Smiley, Cuero, and the Southwest half of Yoakum. If you know anyone, including yourself, who lives in one of those cities and would like to serve our country, please ask them to read this message. We need your help!

The filing deadline is with the Texas GOP, and is 6 PM on Monday, December 9th. If you are interested, you should contact the Texas GOP immediately and they will help you with the paperwork. You need to pay a $3,125 filing fee or collect 500 signatures from Republican primary voters on a petition. After that, you'll be a candidate in the Republican primary in March. Assuming there are no other candidates, you'll win by default and be placed on the ballot for November, 2020. If you win that, you'll get $174,000 / year to represent the district in Congress. You'll also have given Trump one more seat in the House of Representatives during their second term.

Even if you don't win, you can have a big impact. The Democrats have no money. They cannot afford to be spending money in every district. This district, by being uncontested, means they do not need to spend any money. Just by virtue of you being in the race, they will have to pay attention. If you start campaigning, they will have to spend money to counter you. You can raise money to fund your campaign, and you know there are lots of Republican donors who would love to take a seat away from the Democrats. You just need to have a good message and be a good candidate. Think like Trump and you'll do great!

Finally, and most importantly, you will not be alone. There are lots of 'pedes here who will work hard to give you the support you need. Most of us aren't in the area, so the signatures or filing fee is something you have to do on your own. After that, we can give you help in lots of ways. We can help you with your message. We can help organize local venues so you can have rallies and get your name out. Also, the GOP will still be able to help with logistical items, connections to vendors or campaign staff, things like that. If you can make it a close race through the summer, the GOP will also fund local advertising on your behalf.

In order for us to be successful, we have to change the landscape in Congress. This means we need someone from the 34th District of Texas to step up to the plate here. We have your back, but we need you to stand in front. Please consider doing your part in this way.

If you're not from the 34th District of Texas, then help us with this message. Meme this into existence! This is a great opportunity for us!
