Let me be very clear so you understand my position. The only reason law abiding Americans are afraid to be the ones to stand up for what they know is right is the fact that we have decided it is best to have a police force to enforce our laws. However, we have been forced into submission by way of fear of the repercussions if one protects himself. Getting robbed? Don’t fight back because if you hurt the poor perpetrator there will be a lawsuit against you. House being invaded? Well, just turn over the keys because if you blow the fuckers head off you will be welcomed with police interrogation and lawsuits. Wife about to be raped, but she pulls a scary, black gun to thwart the attack? Welp, get ready for the city to say she was imminently dangerous to the lives of those around her as they wheel in a boatload of attorneys to siphon you of any semblance of dignity for your actions. Own a business and thieves steal one dollar less than the decriminalized amount? Too bad, so sad. Stay with me, I’m not finished. Reality is where I am most grounded because I’m fully aware that the police are not our protectors. They have absolutely, positively no legal obligation of any kind to prevent damage to your person or property. At some point you will either understand this fact or you will continue to live in a false sense of security. There will be a time in the near future where our police force will crumble due to a lack of individuals willing to join and a lack of adequate funding. I’m 100% telling you to preemptively shift the responsibilities of protecting yourself from the magical police force onto yourself. If we defang the police, we simultaneously remove their ability to keep us from doing what is right while protecting our neighborhoods and ourselves. We have been handcuffed from preventing crime by fear of reprisal for doing so. Until that changes, expect criminals to become empowered and cops to become complacent. For me, this is an unacceptable concession as our right to life and liberty is inalienable.
