I don’t know anyone in prison, but I’m sure there are a few that are at least wrongly convicted and a system where death was dolled out without due diligence is a scary system to be a part of.

This is also a problem way of thinking.
"The system is flawed, so we shouldn't rid ourselves of child molesters" is why we have too many child molesters.
Capitol punishment needs to exist, it needs to be enforced, flawed or not. The very knowledge that it exists actively prevents crime.
