I think globalist Republicans align with Libertarians on mass immigration because it suits the industrialist need for cheap labor and overall wage reduction; the Libertarian position derives from (ironically) a Randian approach to competition in the labor market.
The Trumpian approach seems to be a balance between the need for qualified people vs. the existing labor market and support infrastructure.
I do agree that a desire for cheap labor is the true reason many Republican elites support mass immigration, though they almost never say that and instead fall back on libertarian or leftist talking points.
