You get it. It's natural to hope for a magical smoking gun that leads to a gotcha moment. Something that rallies everyone to rise up. Unfortunately, these are legal matters and public opinion only goes so far.

If Trump was as smart as he claims he is, he'd be busy right now fixing the legal system by making sure we have good constitutional judges in place. He'd also be working to slowly but surely shift public opinion so that the majority of Americans will support any decisions made in those now better courts. Finally, he'd be supporting the gathering and disseminating of evidence. Even if none of these reports or findings leads directly to criminal charges, they all provide documented evidence that can later be used in a criminal court.

Oh, also he still needs to clean up the FBI and make sure they're really cleaned up. As you've said, that's where the road to indictments will most likely begin. Once criminal proceedings begin, they cannot go back and ask for a do over. If there are any loopholes or gaps in their case, the swamp creatures will find them. Also, at every step there is the chance of drawing on of their pet judges.

The good news is that you'll notice that all of this is EXACTLY what our President has been doing. The bad news is that it would be naive to believe that it's done.

Isn't that precisely what POTUS is doing - with record breaking number of judges appointed?

Don't forget, destroying the CIA, too corrupt for it's own good.
