But then shortly, shit will get expensive quick, because the market will quickly realize that there is now more demand for things, and lots more cash to soak up, so it will then raises costs to compensate.
Since I imagine most people will probably use the money to pay monthly bills, rent will likely be the thing that goes up first. It happens everytime a city introduces affordable housing policies. Which works temporarily at first, but prices just catch up to the influx of market money.
It happened in Portland. And because the market rate continued to increase, it only increases the subsidies the city has to pay to reduce the apartment costs, which only raises the affordable housing costs!
Literally some affordable housing apartments are now $900+, which is after nearly $1000 in subsidies. How the hell is $900 an affordable apartment for the people they made affordable housing in the first place?
And of course everyone who doesn't qualify for affordable housing has to pay $2000+ for the same 1 bedroom apartment.
You can get cheaper places, but it's getting more ajd more difficult. It's a reason I moved south from portland. Too god damn expensive!
