Update: I called the cops, as well as my dad who lives down the street. The officer took one look at my swollen face and arrested my brother. I turned down going to hospital but they took plenty of pictures. My mom, sister and dad are pissed at me now tho...said we should have handled it at home. My brother is applying to med schools and this might hurt him big time...forgot about that.

Not everyone is as confident as you are. My first thought was same as yours, why post this kind of thing, but I realize social media is the lifeblood of many youngsters. It was worth being trolled just in case it wasn’t fake.
I'm glad to see you're giving this some thought. This was domestic/family abuse. Unless one has experienced it, it's difficult to understand how hard it is to take that irrevocable step of calling the police...and how valuable it is to have someone you respect and trust (such as, in this case, fellow pedes) validate your impulse to do so. He knew on some level his parents would scapegoat him. It takes guts to make the right call knowing what he knew. And yes, he knew. We are all aware of our family dynamics. I've been in a similar situation. It stinks. However, in my case I'm glad I called the cops. It wasn't easy at the time or the immediate aftermath...but it was right in the long run. It stopped the abuse, and it made me stronger.
