"Serious explaining?" What are they, five-year-olds? These DOJ hacks deserve a time out of several years in Leavenworth. Not a stern talking to. Barr better be readying more than a finger-wagging lecture. He ought to bring his tape measure to outfit these treasonous pric&s for orange jumpsuits.
“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff. However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S. Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.”
“The Inspector General’s report now makes clear that the FBI launched an intrusive investigation of a U.S. presidential campaign on the thinnest of suspicions that, in my view, were insufficient to justify the steps taken.”
Crossfire Hurricane began as a counterintelligence investigation on Strzok's desk. I don't know the legal standard required by the DOJ for opening a
counterintelligence investigation but having a "reasonable suspicion" of unlawful activity is broadly accepted as the minimum standard for law enforcement
personnel to conduct lawful further inquiry. I would presume (and also hope) that a DOJ counterintelligence investigation conducted at the highest levels of
the Department of Justice would require more than just a whiff of suspicion.
The 4th Amendment governs the issuance of warrants by a court. To protect the citizen against unreasonable searchs and seizures a court must be presented with evidence establishing "probable cause" that a crime has been (or is being) committed. Probable cause evidence is evidence, even if incomplete in totality, which indicates that it is probable that a crime has been committed. Thus, and based on this proffered evidence, a court issues a warrant that permits governmental authority, within the scope of the warrant, to search for additional evidence of said crime.
Following Director Comey's duplicitous leaking of notes from a sensitive/confidential meeting with the President, swiftly followed by the appiontment of a special counsel (also avvered by Comey as his purpose for leaking to the Columbia professor), the Crossfire Hurricase case is transferred to Mueller.
Now let's skip ahead to Volume One of the Mueller report on russian collusion. After a two year investigation Special Counsel Mueller did not find, as a factual
matter, collusion between Trump and the Russians. In fact, Mueller testified that his investigation did not uncover collusion between Trump, Trump's campaign,
or "any person", and Russia, running up to the 2016 presidential campaign.
Which begs the obvious question: If there was sufficient credible evidence to open a counterintelligence investigation at DOJ, and a sufficient factual basis for
a court to issue warrants based on probable cause, then why the fuck couldn't Mueller and his team find any actual facts which established the Russia collusion
narrative?
Mueller didn't find anything because there was never anything to find.
To Durham's remarks about not accepting Horowitz's conclusion that the FBI had predication to open a case, the Mueller report itself is the most damning evidence regarding the lack of predication. A two year investigation. Facts supporting Crossfire Hurricane or the FISA warrants? Zip. Zero. Zilch. Nada.
Good reminder, I needed it. The fattest and most depraved rats jumped ship or were thrown overboard already. McCabe, Strzok, Comey, and Page are outside his jurisdiction, but hopefully someone wanting to protect their job is happy to hand them over.
So Horowitz is allowed to find fault...and outline those faults BUT then gets to be just as phoney in his conclusions as those he's 'investigated'!!?
Horowitz says this in the body of his report:
"We believe this circumstance reflects a failure not just by those who prepared the FISA applications, but also by the managers and supervisors in the Crossfire Hurricane chain of command, including FBI senior officials.....In light of the significant concerns identified with the Carter Page FISA applications and the other issues described in this report, the OIG today initiated an audit."
So instead of saying..."we believe the circumstances reflect SERIOUS CRIMES and a conspiracy by those at the highest levels of the FBI and other institutions to smear and frame a U.S Presidential candidate. In doing this they deliberately abused and misdirected the Court system, on more than one occassion"....
Horowitz simply says..."reflects a failure"
And instead of saying..."In light of the serious concerns identified with the Carter Page FISA application we have forwarded our recommendations to the Attorney-General for several indictments"...
Horowitz simply says...."The OIG today initiated an audit"
There you have it pedes...some "failures" (not crimes) and a menacing "audit" in the pipeline. Its another Horowitz WHITEWASH...indicating that the DOJ or OIG (or both) is STILL corrupted.
If this were a tv show we had been tuning into every day, we'd be feeling duped when the screenwriters wrote in that it was the bad guys who got away and are riding off into the sunset.
Well Mr. MEADOWS, we expect the severest of punishments for these seditious criminals. If you can get that done great. Otherwise, find a new job and let someone with some fight do it
Even so, the real bullshit to come out of this report is that Horowitz said there was a valid reason to begin the investigation and that no political bias could be found for beginning the investigation.

Why does a re-viewing of "Hang 'Em High" sound good right now?
Horowitz doesn't have jurisdiction over former employees, only current ones. Will have to wait on Barr / Durham for the real fireworks.
Statement of U.S. Attorney John H. Durham
“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff. This gives me hope for sure. As far as we know so far, Barr and Durham aren't complete swamp. Time will tell.
Here's a bit of macro perspective:

This. Some people are going to chimp out with disappointment over Horowitz.
IG is just the appetizer, everyone needs to breathe deeply. Barr/Durham will be the main course.
Yup, so basically our republic hangs by a thread and depends on these 3 dudes not being corrupt. I hope they aren't corrupt.
People like me who are 'concern trolls' are concerned because if we are right, it will be 1776 all over again.
“Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.”
― H.L. Mencken, Prejudices: First Series
I have a sudden mental picture of pirates descending on DC.
I’m down, I’m just not willing to do it alone.....
Mencken quotes always seem so relevant. It's hard to believe there was a time where men of his caliber worked in journalism.
Good reminder, I needed it. The fattest and most depraved rats jumped ship or were thrown overboard already. McCabe, Strzok, Comey, and Page are outside his jurisdiction, but hopefully someone wanting to protect their job is happy to hand them over.
I don't want any splaining Lucy. I want some arrests!
Some employees may actually receive a stern talking-to.
Gonna wag that Finger right at em!!
He’s composing a strongly-worded email
blah blah blah, put up or shut up.
I'd prefer the explaining be doen AT THEIR TRIALS! ENough investigations, enough hearings, enough reports. CHARGE THEM!
So Horowitz is allowed to find fault...and outline those faults BUT then gets to be just as phoney in his conclusions as those he's 'investigated'!!?

Explaining? I think he must have meant, to say..... Spinning.
Oh noes not explaining. They all should get a rebuke and a stern look.
Oooooooooo, explaining. Sounds scary. Will they be put into a 10 minute timeout too? ??
Where are the orange jumpsuits?
Even so, the real bullshit to come out of this report is that Horowitz said there was a valid reason to begin the investigation and that no political bias could be found for beginning the investigation.
Pure bullshit.
they should do that explaining after being charged with crimes
