I actually do think that any President who survives an impeachment attempt initiated by the opposing political party should be eligible to run for an additional term. It's the only way I see to stop politically-motivated impeachment attempts.
It's up to the Senate. If the convict, they can bar someone from holding public office ever again. But it's at their discretion and it is also the furthest punishment they can inflict.
