That time...was a long mfing time ago. At least by 2016, every public Trump supporter should know what they're walking into. I blame the normies that've flooded our sites and whitewashed the transgressive, bold message that got Trump elected. First it was drugs, shitposting and hillarity....then he won and it became BudLite, Titties n Guns. Now, it's not even that! It's...AARP, Reagan Republicans and Glenn Beck middle schoolers.
Point being, it's never too late to lose track of what got him elected and return to losing election after election by supporting George W Bush/McCain/Etc political policies and 1990's culture war bullshit. If it looks like the call to truly unite this country (regardless of sexuality, race, gender, hairstyle, etc) behind a strong border and end to wasteful global wars...then many people will lose faith and the strong horse aspect will abate. Sumshit.
