His defense is that the investigation ask to look into corruption isn’t illegal if the ask was to investigate corruption. This is what the ask has always been when we have given aide to Ukraine. If he said “investigate Joe Biden or you don’t get money” that’s a problem. But that didn’t happen.

The other crap about obstruction of Congress is also a bunch of crap because it’s up to the courts to decide what subpoenas to uphold and enforce. It’s my understanding that currently it’s in the judicial branch.

It’s not obstruction to refuse a congressional subpoena and force it to go through the judicial branch. (This is what Obama did in fast and furious)

So as far as I know they have nothing and have voted to impeach on a bunch of nothing. And abuse of power? That’s so utterly broad by definition that it can be twisted to literally mean anything.

Point is, if they had anything solid, they’d impeach on that, but they don’t.. so it’s vague. The whole entire goal of what they are doing is an attempt to smear the president by simply tying impeachment to his name. It’s bullshit and depressing that they are doing this.

I think they hope that people will just see a headline and say omg trump is impeached and not look further. I think they hope that the average American is too stupid to see it for the absolute sham that it is, and I also hope that they all get totally wrecked for it come election time.
