I've actually tried this line of reasoning before with progressives. It doesn't work.

The entire point about creating "Whataboutisms" from air was so they could short circuit their critics criticism of them and pretend they'd won arguments by not addressing actual relevant points about their own actions and beliefs.

"Think about this <insert progressive mantra that is never challenged>!"

"Well that seems unfair to -"

"No what about this <insert non-factual strawman that accuses others of exactly what they're guilty of>!"

"But what about when you -"

"No! Think about this!"

"But -"

"No! Now what about this!?"

"But -"

and on and on

Whataboutism isn't about what the person is specifically asking, its about ignoring what the person is asking because they've questioned the orthodoxy of the cult. The metaphysics that spins the Sun around their Earths can't be questioned.

Disagreement is the trigger for a charge of whataboutism, and because shaming and social pressure doesn't work on someone the cult doesn't have leverage over, they must become a source of malevolence rather than a fully actualized human being with equal but different needs and desires.

I almost feel sorry for the writer for putting the effort into what she's written. She is still projecting a semblance of decency onto terrified dogs trained to bark at strangers.

The sooner people learn that beaten animals have no self control when they're agitated beyond what they know how to cope with, the sooner they'll realize its not a cult but a feral pack of domesticated animals. Drawn to people they've grown to fear, their instincts drive them to seek out and follow human cues but their desperation requires they savage anything that doesn't beat them into submission.

Democratic voters that don't "get it" are just whipped dogs ready to savage children on the way home from school after getting their first taste of terrifying freedom.

Last sentence got me. I’ve read countless articles trying to understand why liberals think like they do. I found several Left sites, urging antiTrumpers to ignore arguing with Uncle Bill. To turn their efforts to the children, when away from parents.

Watch your kids. I wish there were kids in my life. But guess didn’t instill my values in my own daughter. Taught her to think for herself. Now she’s Liberal. Go figure. ( she does hang on to a few conservative values, not many).

If it's any consolation, very often our children 'grow out of' liberalism. Mine did, thank God, but it took a dozen or so years after college for them to become more conservative.

Once we become taxpayers, homeowners, parents, etc, we tend to become more conservative.

I remember my poor mother being dismayed (or disgusted?) because I was not very conservative in my youth. I'm not a Republican, I'm a Conservative Independent Trumpster.

Before GEOTUS, I always ended up voting against rather than for candidates...so my only real options were to vote for Republicans. The last Dem I voted for was Bill Clinton, and I am ashamed of it to this day.

This is a well reasoned article. Easy to see and understand unless someone is already brainwashed and won't let go of their narrative and foundation.

The left is turning politics into another religion. They want their followers to worship political figures and don’t you dare go against what is told to you.

You mean the side that violently stamps out dissent and is always angry but especially so when their programming is challenged is a cult? Pffft no way
