he's been in office long enough and has done nothing to clean the place up, only now that the FISA court have piped up (at fucking last!) is he saying jack.
barr is a decent guy, doing what he can; but shuttering him in favor of a "yes man" or "wingman" would look fairly corrupt. beyond that, doing the same with his FBI director would look equally bad.
his best move is to let it crash and burn in the senate, let the dems squawk for a while, and then- once the dust has settled- reshuffle the deck with people he trusts to protect not just himself but any future president from these sorts of antics
