There are good odds Nancy Pelosi ends up losing her speakership for this. She was barely holding onto the party as is. When this backfires the democrats behind it will probably get re-elected, but become pariahs in their own party.

The California democrats will probably keep their seats because California keeps voting left. The rest of the democrats will remember this and stop siding with them.
