Is your family prepared for a lengthy period of martial law or civil war without power or water?

During such times, the difference between a helpless family and one that thrives can be a matter of $100 worth of supplies, a bit more if you don't already own a gun.

These are just some of the bare basics that will dramatically increase your family's ability to survive.

Bottled water has a shelf life-aka it eventually grows bacteria & waterborne microbes. (read Louis Pasteur)

Bleach in water is just asking for death. You will kill the young & elderly first, and even healthy people will develop internal organ issues... due to long term exposure, even short term in high concentrations is terrible for you. Bleach 6 months old loses its potency...

The best bet for water is 3 fold: Filtration, Boiling, Distilling.

Filtration -Life Straws work, but will eventually get clogged so short term.

Boiling works, but you lose volume, thereby concentrating of any toxins present. Also while it may KILL the pathogens, their corpses are still present, and that alone can trigger an immune response aka Get Sick.

IMHO the best method is distilling. but it requires you to set up somewhere, and to have clean equipment or you can introduce pathogens to the system. Also Alcohol or gasoline in water will evaporate first so you MUST discard the first "volume x" of the recondensed water.

Lastly, unless stored properly etc, it's just a matter of TIME the pathogens will regrow.

Our US water systems are sophisticated, Highly managed systems to provide good clean water for consumers, unlikely you can reproduce that system in a bug-out/IN situation, without killing people or causing severe health effects. If you have a known healthy well, that's one thing, dropping bleach or halizone tabs is QUITE another.

It's SCIENCE ! It is a very sophisticated process to produce potable water that will not HARM the general population !!

if you are in some conflict, or bug out situation & on the move, the LAST thing you want is half the people sick from toxins or pathogens that take weeks to recover from IF you have anti-biotics !!

Drops of bleach or Hot tub chlorine, are NOT the same as the sophisticated Chlorine derivatives actually used in public water systems !!!

Honestly, you would be better brewing Beer, Meade, Wine, Everclear than drinking some jamokes homemade chlorine water !

99% of the prepper sites info on water is going to kill people.

It's a pet peeve of mine.
