I haven't forgotten that this whole thing started because classified information was leaked by an insubordinate officer for political gain. This was exactly the sort of divisively partisan avalanche Morrison was afraid would happen and the damn call should have been kept secure. I think it's well understood that all governments leverage their wealth to curry "favors" from foreign nations, and politicians are always trying to dig up dirt on each other (a problem easily avoided by not being dirty) to get control of the purse strings and advance their own agendas. They fight over our tax dollars like hungry dogs over a bone. Nobody gives a fuck. Investigating possible criminal activity is not an abuse of power and it's not "obstruction" for the Executive to check the authority of the Legislature, or vice versa. This whole thing is going nowhere and never should have started. If the Democrats really wanted to improve national security they should try shutting their fat mouths. The fact of the matter is Putin doesn't need to hack anything when our secrets are all on the front page of the Washington fucking Post.
"But our great security lies, I think, in our growing strength, both in numbers and wealth; that creates an increasing ability of assisting this nation in its wars, which will make us more respectable, our friendship more valued, and our enmity feared; thence it will soon be thought proper to treat us not with justice only, but with kindness, and thence we may expect in a few years a total change of measures with regard to us; unless, by a neglect of military discipline, we should lose all martial spirit, and our western people become as tame as those in the eastern dominions of Britain, when we may expect the same oppressions; for there is much truth in the Italian saying, 'Make yourselves sheep, and the wolves will eat you.'" - Benjamin Franklin
