Is this actually true does it say this in the constitution I read some comments of pedes discussing this so I am wondering of there is any truth to it.
Would be allowed by whom? No the Constitution does not say it, and I wish people would stop spreading BS like this, it is appalling. Why are they so eager to turn us into a banana republic, making up the rules as we go along? Whatever issue we have must be settled in SCOTUS.
Anything we wish for without the law to back us up can backfire on us big time when the tables are turned.
All we have right now in the written law is the 22nd amendment - 8 years / two terms. I don't know if there is a legal argument enabling a president to serve longer if there was an attempt to overthrow him.
I am confident we will see more Trumps and like-minded conservatives in the future. The world is moving towards nationalism-populism.
Thank you for the reply, My question is actually about what you said you didnt know. Is there a legal argument for a third term when one is ruined by hoax impeachment?
Trump has not been ruined. He himself is saying these are the best days of his presidency.
Impeachment is impeachment - again, we would have to refer to the law to constitute what is a valid impeachment. Maybe if POTUS or the GOP wanted to fight this before the courts they could and in one sense I hope they do, because it will continue to expose the corruption of the intel agencies and the FISA court.
But it's not going to enable him to run a third term.
Do you mean you dont know or that you are 100% sure that this law does not exist? If you are unable or willing to have an articulate discussion than please move along.
There is no law that Trumps the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution, It doesn't mean there are no unconstitutional laws out there. The Democrats have put thousands of them on the books.
I am 100% sure that a constitutional law as you describe does not exist. There is no provision for the POTUS to run for a third term, due to Democrat misconduct.
The reason for Clabber's short answer is that it is a remarkably stupid question.
` No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice
But, the text does leave open that someone like Pence get elected and then step down and other shenanigans such as that but I sorta think the American public, would not go for that.
Theoretically, no one can serve more than 10 years. Less than half a term becoming President by virtue of completing a term of a prior President and then 2 terms. There are NO EXCEPTIONS.
The only way to change that is to repeal the 22nd Amendment. I would oppose that.
If Trump is impeached, technically he didn't hold a term in office, would that still give him two terms? Because under those conditions I wouldn't mind President Pence for 1.5 years so we can have Trump for another 8 years XD.
It is for posts like this when I miss the down arrow.

patently false
It is a great joke though, and much like “Russia if you are listening,” it makes the leftists’ heads explode every time.
No.

He hasn't been removed. And, if he is removed from office, he is ineligible to run again.
